One of the slowest cars I've owned, but by far the most fun to drive (I had it in manual transmission). Everytime I see one on the road I wish I still had one.

Still own my FRS and use it as a DD. Chosen primarily because its fun and can make a mundane drive somewhat exciting. I'd never say no to extra power and was more than willing to pay extra to have it, but it not being fast...the strange benefits is this is my most economical car. Never intended for it to be so inexpensive, but when a fun car is also cheap...either its amazing automakers can give us a cheap thrill or perhaps it says more about how hideously expensive to run the stuff people buy today are.

Rumors are subie is dropping the BRZ and using the capacity to ramp up production of it's more profitable CUVs.
Toyota will be bringing the GR86 and will keep it exclusively for Toyota initially.

Man I hope this isn't the end of a light sporty coupe. People keep complaining that it's underpowered...never knew a car needed mad horsepower to be fun lol

They are building a 2nd one. The current one is one expensive tart. 30k for 200 hp lol. Was the joke of the town.

So apparently the MX-5 is even worse because that's 155 hp for the early ND, and today its 181 hp...and it costs even more than a BRZ as it starts at 33K, the RF is 40K. BTW BRZ starts at $28.

Change the FRS/86 into a Corolla "Coupe" or Corolla 86 .... then slap a 2.5L into it with TRD or GR package and call it a day. Grinning Face With Smiling Eyes

Will never be able to drive the car to it's limits, unlike low HP cars. But lets not get too carried away here, the BRZ isn't a looker lol. Point is it's the closest modern car you can buy that still feels like a car from the 90's.

Motor sounds like a washing machine and everything feels cheap...

If you want lightweight sports coupe buy a used 987 Cayman.
