Subwoofer recommendations

My Klipsch kw-100 sub kept blowing fuses so I think its finally done. Looking for a budget friendly sub that would work well with both music and movies. I was thinking of BIC America F12 that is sold on amazon for 325. It has pretty good reviews but I’m apprehensive to order something from the states (the seller) and have to return it. Thoughts if anyone has this sub or recommendations would be awesome.

Look for used subs on forums like Canuckaudiomart.com. You can get some good deals if you are patient.

If you are looking to spend around $325, look for older SVS and HSU research.

I bought used SVS PC12-NSD from a seller on RFD for a great price. There was something wrong with the amp, which I knew about, and purchased a replacement amp. It cost more than you are looking to spend but it is a killer sub for watching movies with monster bass like Fantastic Beasts and Dunkirk.

Ok thank you. Not much goes up for sale in my neck of the woods unfortunately.

If that BIC is from the same Amazon seller I purchased my from you shouldn’t have a worry.

I was sent one that started having an intermittent fault after a month or two. I contacted the seller and he sent me a new one and told me not to bother sending back the old one (would have cost them more in shipping). Not sure whether BIC or the retailer ate that one.

I couldn’t understand how they could ship a 35lb sub from California for 5.54...... ha ha.

I am not prone to crank it so I can’t vouch for the bass heads but for my purposes the BIC is great.

Thank you for the reply. That’s good to know.

Another +1 for Logitech. It is a decent system with powerful sound. It is reasonbly priced also.

Correct me if I am wrong but the Logitech is more for a computer setup where as the Klipsch/BIC/SVS are for bigger home theatre setups. I think the intended use of the Logitech is not what the OP wants (home theatre vs computer room).

SVS costs more then your budget but is worth it. I have a PB-1000 and it is clear bass down to 19 hz.

I was looking at that sub. Man, almost 700 bucks for that one. Ouch. Hard to get that one past my wife. But it would be nice!
