Thank you! Any shots from there - are they bloomed right now? How long do they stay for? I've never shot sunflowers before :)

Sunflowers last for about 2-3 weeks until they get harvested? A per the farm owner of Edward's, they are in full bloom this weekend.

I don't have any pics but there are some pics online. Sunflowers field pretty much look all the same Grinning Face With Smiling Eyes

Went up to Edward's Farm. Not bad but the field isn't that big and the farm buildings get in the background. Would love to find a field that stretches to the horizon or at least seem like it.

maybe a trip for next year? :)

Paris, Illinois

PARIS, Il. (WTHI) - Are you looking for something fun to do with the family? Well, you're in luck!

There's a one-of-a-kind experience in full bloom. On a quaint farm tucked in Paris, Illinois there's a field filled with yellow. It's catching eyes and turning heads.

"We had planted some as bird seed about two years ago and we thought, what can we do with this to allow people to come out and see it," said Brian Lau, Owner of L&A Family Farms.

What started as a small idea has grown into a big undertaking. "It’s probably taken about 3 days to just a sunflower field to the actual maze," said Lau.

On several hundred acres of land you’ll find a crafted maze complete with more than 100,000 towering sunflowers.

"The path is laid out, and the sunflowers are about one-foot tall. We follow a graph line, and then we start mowing with a lawn-mower and continue to mow the paths, until we get them like they are now," explained Lau.

This year's maze is part of a special theme. The sunflowers spell out, “Happy 100th Grandma.”

"She always said she wanted to see it but didn't think she would have the chance to get out in it, so she enjoyed it," said Lau.

Now, from their family to yours. "This is just a way to invite people out to the farm, get away from the city life, just to experience some time in the country," said Lau.

Don't waste any time before you check out the maze for yourself. It's difficult to tell just how long the season will last.

L&A Family Farms is open for visitors Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Remember, the farm operates on central time.

Either a lot of people saw this thread or someone posted a thread on some Chinese forum cuz this is the first time I have seen so many people at Edwards's Farm. I have never seen it this busy. It is usually empty.

The farm even has a store opened for business selling meat , flour, eggs, milk etc.

The farm charges $5 per car but no one was there to collect the money. You put the money inside the can.

There wasn't a lot of nice sunflowers inside the path. The flowers by the exterior looks nicer and bigger .

Thanks for the info. Here is what one can get at the Bogle Seeds Farm (not my photo; just something I found on flickr). I wonder if some photoshopping was involved here, especially near the horizon?

Why do they close so early?

Sunset isn't till 9ish. Or they could at least do one or two days in the week with late hours.

Sunflower Update as of July 23, 2018:

We are open daily for sunflower viewing /photography from 9am to 6pm while the flowers are blooming. We currently have full use of our parking area. Please be aware that it is muddy here due to the rain we have been experiencing. The weather forecast is calling for rain during this coming week. If we receive excessive rain during this time, we will have very limited parking, as we will not be able to park vehicles in the field. I will update again if this becomes an issue so that you are aware.
The sunflowers have now reached their peak blooming time.

FOR OUR BIRD SEED/ FARM FEED CUSTOMERS:

Please note that we will be open our usual hours for seed sales and we will not be having seed sales on Sundays.

HERE IS SOME INFORMATION YOU SHOULD BE AWARE OF BEFORE YOU COME TO OUR FARM:

-No on-site photographers available, so bring your own.
-Weekends will be VERY busy, try to visit during the week.
-ADMISSION OF $7.50 PER PERSON, CHILDREN 12 AND UNDER ARE FREE, CORRECT CHANGE APPRECIATED, CASH ONLY!
-No pets please, except service dogs.
-No drones permitted.
-Please stay out of restricted areas and gardens.
-No parking on the road side as it is too dangerous on the narrow, busy road.
-We have a large on-site parking area.
-Put all garbage in garbage cans to keep our farm beautiful.
-Bring your bug spray and sunscreen.
-SUNFLOWERS ATTRACT BEES, IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC, BE PREPARED.
-Enjoy walking the 1.3km trail loop through the sunflower field and shady farm yard.
-BOGLE SEEDS IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOST, STOLEN OR DAMAGED ITEMS OR VEHICLES.

NOTE: this is a short opportunity to come out, when we close, it is final for the season!
