However, Cuba 4 star is really 3 star in a decent country, so you can’t even make a fair comparison
What hotel is it 200+? I'm interested in finding out.

The cheapest I could find for Panama is 1300.

When I was looking for hotels I saw some for 1100-1200. My friends and I booked the last week of October off and bought our tickets 2 days before hand. Basically whichever was the best deal we booked. We were close to going to panama but the long flight and only going for 4 days wasn’t worth it to us. If you’re willing to gamble and take a risk you might be able to get it a few hundreds dollars cheaper closer to your vacation days.

Mmmmm, I thought you mean you could get to Panama for $800 pp. As this deal is $600pp.

So at 11-1200, you are talking about $500 additional pp?

My wife and I did a last minute trip to Cuba in 2017 or 2018. Santa Maria, brand new resort, supposedly 4*. It was the absolute worst trip we've ever taken (we're over 100 trips). I don't recall what kind of plane WestJet had us in but I've never felt more like a sardine than that (it made Rouge feel spacious). The food was beyond disgusting. We still joke about their food service to this day. They'd offer a hot dog or hamburger - with no buns - ever. They actually served hot dog soup for dinner. We are divers so we decided to go for a two tank dive trip. This should take about 4 to 5 hours tops. It took 10. And the reefs were d e a d dead. Like nothing left alive at all. The beach was nice. That's the only nice thing I've got to say about Cuba. Never again.

I just came back from Mexico five star (sunwing) and I would say the food are pretty good.

The room is three star as they are a bit run down.

But for $900 all inclusive, I’ll do it again next year if I can find it

Royal Decameron was huge as it’s a larger due to having a golf course. However, it was very quiet for us as we were towards the end of the resort. They have golf carts that will drive you around.

Enjoyable if like walking.

Depends on time of year, last minute deals, etc.

My brother went in June on a last minute deal to Rio Hata for $902.

Prices are typically $1200+ but there are deals to be had. Had my brother booked 1 day earlier it would have been $807.

It’s two hours longer for the flight so that’s a factor.

Hi guys,
Are the plugs in cuba as same as the one we have in Canada? or any convertor is needed?

My room had two prong 110 and 220 volt service. Phone chargers and laptop chargers can use both.
Canada standard is 120 volts.
If you have anything that is 3 prong (like a laptop charger), bring an adapter to convert to two prong.
Cuba has zero shits to give towards grounding.

The TV in my room was originally 3 prong, but they just snapped the 3rd prong off to make it fit into the 2 prong wall socket, lol.

Is that Bell’s Roam Like Home plan? What sort of speed does she get with Speedtest? I’m wondering how usable it is. Thanks for the reply.

Feel like I dodged a bullet when I took this trip in October, lol.

It’s Koodo’s RLH, didn’t speed test in Cuba, felt like 3G, fine for emails.

We’re in the Mayan atm, and the Wi-Fi is free throughout the resort and extends to the beach, speed is 1-2Mbps outside. The resorts in Mexico are nicer, more food variety, however some of it tastes off. We really miss the Varadero beach. As we remembered, Mayan beaches have rocks and shells going in the water, 2 of our group already cut their feet. Our family brings water shoes or most of us stay by the pool.

Thanks for the info. 3G speed from the carrier is painful. Might as well using the wifi from the resort with VPN.

No problem! Wi-Fi speed was worse even in full strength areas and often disconnected (Iberostar Varadero). YMMV at your hotel.
