surface RT vs nexus 7

hi i am shopping for used tablet

its mainly for youtube, net surfing. playing mp4 movies, not game apps.
Assuming both cost $80 , my key focus is how fast it is and how stable it is.

Would you take MS windows surface RT or nexus 7 (2012 ,not 2013 version ) ?

Thx
TC

avoid the Nexus 7 2012, I have one and its age is showing. slow on lot's of things. It may be just my settings or needs an internal clean up but I can't be bothered to do that every month or so.

Had the Surface and Surface 2. For mpeg movies it's great, as is integrated Office. Excellent screen. Anything else is now terrible, esp Explorer (no Edge and no support meant many sites were unvisitable). I couldn't take it anymore and used my extended warranty to have it replaced when I "dropped" my 7 iron on it several times. They sent me Surface 3 and am much happier.

I got a nexus 7 2013 on eBay in the summer for about $80. It's not in perfect shape, obviously used, but it works great. I use it for web surfing, Netflix, reading ebooks, and my daughter watches a lot of YouTube videos on it and the advent calendar her grandmother sent her with no troubles at all. When I was looking I was told to skip the 2012 version as it's just too slow.

I can't speak to the RT, I have no experience with those, but I would buy another nexus 7 if I needed another tablet.
