Swan River MB to Winnipeg Roadtrip suggestion

Planning for a family road trip from swan river manitoba to Winnipeg Manitoba. I dont wana stay anywhere overnight, no hotel stay at all, dont wana drive at night in the dark either, 3 kids and two adults, travling in a town n country van, i know its a no brainer to just go there do what you need to do and drive the deck back to swan river, but i also want to enjoy the road trip, i have given me two additional hours for stoping during drive and stretch/ make pics videos etc.

I m thinking about leaving around 4am and coming back to swan river same day before sunset (sunset is around 10pm)

Takes 5 hours to drive there one way,

10 hours commute,

2 additional hours to make stops and stretch.

3 hours to spend time in winnipeg shopping etc.

According to this, if i leave at 4am, and come back home after 15 hours, i should be home around 7-8pm. Which is still before sunset.

What do u think about my plan? Practical? Realistic? Stupid? Smart?

Also, anyone konws good stops on the way for nice photo/video taking??

Thanks

White Heavy Check Mark ALL OF THE ABOVE

10 hours of driving … in one direction is one thing
And I have definitely done such long hauls on my way to Florida, or across Canada

But as a DAY OUTING RETURN TRIP with 3 kids in tow
And plans for other hours set aside for …
Gas, Pee Breaks, Food, Sightseeing, Shopping etc

THIS IS MILDLY TO MAJORLY INSANE

Make a decent trip of it with at least one overnight in Winnipeg

Lol, take the kids to The Mint … to see where Canada literally makes money
They’ll get a kick out of that

I wouldn’t consider it risky right now if you & your wife are both doubly vaccinated.

The hotel will have protocols too …

Prob expect you to wear a mask in the building when not in your room
If Breakfast is usually a buffet … it could be served
And then you take it back to your room etc
Pool & Fitness Centre … May or may not be open
Higher Cleaning Standards etc

We are both 60+ with preexisting health conditions … AND fully vaccinated
And would have no qualms staying a reputable name brand / chain hotel right now

Infact, am looking forward to getting back to travelling
Have plans to drive down east to see family later this summer
And will do at least one hotel overnight in each direction

Stupid... rushed... forced.. whatever you call it, this isn't what travelling should be.

You need to take your time and enjoy the sights and sounds of new environments.

The way you've described it sounds like a work trip to me. Get to point B from A while completing tasks C.

Plz don't do this.

10 hours driving to spend 3 hours shopping in the Peg?

Why bother going?

No, not really. Not like you would be sleeping in a hostel bunk in a dorm with 12 other people. I would have no concerns about staying in any major chain hotel right now.
