Swap esims to a new Android phone

Is there a way to swap phones using an old esim? I know theres a way for iPhones but I am on Android.

Basically I have a fido tablet plan running on esim on my pixel 4. I want to move this to my pixel 5. But using the old QR code generated an error. I don't want to go to fido store since technically im not supposed to run this plan with a cellphone.

Is my last resort just to get a new esim and transfer that way?

Has the "old e sim" ever been registered with a carrier?

On most carriers a e sim is single use - locked to the first device it is registered on. If you get a new phone you need a new e sim, if you want to transfer phone number.

Yeah, I think your only option is to get a new e-sim, unfortunately.

I don't know about fido but I'm on freedom and I had been using esim on the iPhone XS. I gave away the device and moved it to my 3a xl and all I had to do was input the pixel esim in the freedom site and it swapped esims for me.
