Switch Memory card (other brands are okay?)

Hi,

You can use any microSD card from any brand, right? Don't have to be the official switch one, right?

Any recommendation?

Yes you can use from any brand. I've been using unofficial SanDisk ones from Costco for years on both the original model and OLED models.

Cheaper in store, think i bought from for $35 or $38 on sale. Its like ~$45 regular price.

I would recommend getting a class10 U3 micro SD card. Those support recording 4k picture video if you use it in a dashcam, or camera.

U1 cards are too slow to support that.

Samsung and PNY class 10 U3 cards are cheaper on amazon than costco.

I use 256 or 512 GB cards in my Switch Consoles. If you buy physical game carts then those do not occupy much memory on the console. If you buy digital downloaded games, those take up much more space on the Switch's internal memory or expansion memory card slot.

Sandisk Ultra 512GB or Kingston Canvas Select Plus 256GB are what I have used in the past with 0 issue.

Even if two cards are the same brand (and neither of them is an outright counterfeit), they might be sourced from different facilities, so there's really no way of knowing if one card will necessarily be better than another.

You can thoroughly test a new card using a tool like h2testw.

This. Always make sure to test your flash memory cards or sticks, if you buy from Amazon it doesn't matter it may be fake as well depending on which seller you buy it from.

I use SanDisk 512 GB cards on my Switch and Switch Lite.

I'm all in on digital only, much more convenient.
