For those looking for a good deal for Hamilton/Abbotsford this is by far the lowest I have seen it. 143.26 return. I have included screen grabs of the various dates.

I flew them for the first time a month ago and it was fine. You can only bring a backpack on without paying. Strollers and roll ons all cost extra. For 143 it’s almost a no brainer even if you have to pay extra for the luggage. Also for those that haven’t flown out of Hamilton it’s great. You can easily get in and out in a fraction of the time it takes at Pearson.

Just flew Swoop from Hamilton to Cancun. It's not terrible, but the issue I had was that Hamilton does not have ramp connections, and as such you need to walk outside from the terminal to the plane in cold weather. If you have a baby or are travelling to a warm destination (are not carrying your jacket), be prepared for that 4-5 minutes you will be spending outside.

Need to plan a surprise vacation for a family of six. We’ve never been to BC so is there anything to do in and around Abbotsford? Any good places to stay?

Thanks!

Abbotsford is about 1hr drive to downtown Vancouver. (westbound) There's not much in Abbotsford but if you come during the warmer season (April onwards), you can go eastbound to Cultus Lake or Harrison Hot Spring. (Also depends on where in BC the family you're visiting lives)

It’s only a 30 minute drive to Chilliwack and there is some great hiking spots there

For those who might make the drive there are lots of options from London for ~$100

Great price to be sure. I've flown this route several times and last winter the delays and cancellations were at a 100% rate. I don't care about minor delays but when every flight is more than an hour late or is delayed by 3 hours and then they cancel it so you need to come back the next day the value of their low airfares is diminished. My advice is expect delays and bring food onboard and instruct anyone picking you up to check flightaware constantly

Or hang a hard left and don't stop til Portland. Although to be completely honest, as a Toronto boy myself there's a whole bunch to discover in this general region. Vancouver itself is a mediocre city surrounded by stunning beauty and adventure.

I do not recommend flying to abbotsford unless you plan to rent a car. Getting between Vancouver and Abbotsford is a hassle if you don't drive and even if you do, you are dependent on the traffic condition on hwy1, which is often congested. The money saved is not worth the trouble commuting. Just fly directly to YVR.

I mean it’s quite possible to use public transit to get to Vancouver.... but it’s a bit under 3 hours to do so. At least half of the time required to fly here from Hamilton..

Involves #21 (BC Transit), will cost $2.50. Then transfer to #503 ($5.75 if weekday, $3 if weekday after 6:30pm or weekend. Inclusive of Skytrain fare, use credit card please, unless you have compass card, otherwise will have problems with fare gates at Skytrain. TransLink system.) and then the Skytrain at Surrey Central and it’ll take you downtown in just over 30 minutes.

The only problems is that if you miss the trip, your screwed. #21 is 1hr/trip, #503 is 30mins/trip, also makes up over a hour of the journey itself.

I mean if you want to get to Downtown Vancouver for less than $10, it’s doable but it’ll be hell...
