T&T Grocery - What Is So Good About It?

I keep seeing these posts about T&T but I have never been to that store. What is so good about it?

its an asian grocery store

many items there can not be found in a typical grocery store where there is usually one (or less) isles for imported oriental products

plus its not the typical asian grocery store. its actually modern, well lit, and somewhat clean. they scan their product too. so think loblaws but a little smaller filled with asian products

I think T&T's biggest claim to fame is that it's bigger and cleaner than any other chinese supermarket out there right now. and because it's bigger, it has much more variety in terms of imported goods. you might go to one chinese grocery store and only get a choice of a few bags of imported chips. At T&T, there's a whole aisle of imported chips from China, HK, Japan, Korea, Philippines. Also they have the areas of pre-cooked meals like dim sum, baked goods, cooked chinese food which makes it convenient if u're lazy to cook one particular day.

T&T is awesome!

It's like the Asian version of a Dominion. Clean, well lit, tonnes of selection.

The sushi section is very good.

The take-out section is a GREAT value and the selection is very good. You get a really nice meal for $5. The bbq meats are well priced. And I like the dim-sum section too.

Late at night they have the take out foods at a really good low price!

I go there just to eat sometimes!

weirdest location is at promenade mall. the mall is in a predominantly eastern european/ jewish neighborhood. when you walk throught the mall, it occupied with eastern europeans and when you get to the T&T area, whoa , what contrast, lik ei'm in pmall.

Well traditionally T&T has always gone into old mall space. Metrotown used to be the basement of Woodwards. Promenade is old Eaton's space. Although still an odd area to open the first one in a predominantly Jewish neighborhood. I think the Steeles & Warden one is the first free standing custom built T&T.

Pretty much everyone I know who goes to T&T goes for the cleanliness for a Asian market. Also for their take-out/bakery.

Thanks to this post I was inspired to go there tonight for their store closing sale that happens every night around 10:30pm.

I got (sorry if I don't know the names.... I'm not Asian):

- Rice dumpling things wrapped in leaves with beef inside X2
- Honey Pork Ribs
- Black Pepper Pork
- HK Style chicken feet (dim sum) X2
- Stewed Beef Tendon (dim sum)
- Pork spring rolls (dim sum)
- Pork Dumplings pan fried (dim sum)
- Half soya chicken
- 20 piece sushi
- 6 piece sushi
- Spicy Bean Curd

All came to $36!!! Now I have lunch and dinner for a few days! Had the chicken feet and tendon tonight, and it was delicious!!

I love T&T.

Also, when you enter T&T, you feel like you are in hong kong or something....
then you see all the employees are of asian decent.....then you wonder why they don't hire any indians, why you might only see one indian in the entire store if you are lucky..

They also have people who stand around and give out samples.
They also have peaceful harmony flute music playing in the backround as well.

I love T&T. Cheap place to get produce, and also any ingredients for the more unique asian dishes I like. Plus the bakery is un-freakin-believable. Definetly make this white boy too fat if he isn't careful.
