So every time I go into my bank (TD canada) the teller usually brings up some offer I'm pre-approved for (higher visa limit, LOC, overdraft, etc) and then goes into detail about the benefits of having whatever it is.Anyone know if they're on commission for selling these services or something?

Just curious. When banks lend money to the public, are they paying for insurance on the lent out money in case it isn't paid back? How do they cover their loss if the loaned money isn't paid back. I'm referring to situations like "line of credit" in Ontario.Thanks
