advice

So this morning I heard some crying coming from the backyard. My dogs found a rabbits nest and found 5 babies. They did not harm them, but dug up the grass exposing the nest - I managed to put the grass back and put a laundrey basket on top (cut a huge hole so mom can get in). We are the only house ...

Looking for a reasonable priced vet. I think the lowest one is Ontario SPCA, but the whitelist is really long due to covid-19. Any other recommendations in GTA? Thanks in advance.

help

Hi everyone I got quoted by a vet in Vancouver for dental cleaning and extractions because I believe my dog has abscess teeth. They quoted me 1050-1100 for dental cleaning 1hr of work and 1700 for extractions 1hr of work I feel it is very high.

good

Can anyone recommend a good vet surgeon for perineal hernia surgery for our dog? We are in TO (Scarborough) but anywhere in the GTA would be ok. We have interviewed two surgeons but given that the cost of the surgery is 4k+ and there is a good chance of recurrence, we would like to speak with more. ...

old

⬇Recently we had to put down our 19 year old cat. Kitty developed kidney problems and was declining fast. He was a rescue cat and he lived with us for 14 years. It was a difficult decision but we didn't want our little guy to suffer. What came as a shock was the cost of euthanizing our cat. It cost ...

cat litter

This past March, just before our city's lockdown, we had to let our cat of 18 years cross the rainbow bridge. It was the worst day of my life. We always had her using clumping clay litter and it was dusty, costly and the litter tracking was pretty bad. Fast forward to now - We decided that we missed...

... to Canada (Toronto). Before anyone asks or judges, I cannot currently find an available puppy of this breed at any Canadian/US breeder (close to 1.5 year waitlists) and my current dog is a Canadian rescue. I've been reaching out to customs brokers but the vast majority do not handle pets, and ...

dental

Hi, I took my dog, Nugget to the vet recently due to skin growths. Luckily they told me the growths were benign and we didn't need to do anything. :) They told me that Nugget needed dental work however and quoted me these prices. What worries me is I actually agreed to the dental work before they qu...

adoption

I am thinking of adopting a cat. I have the perfect home and would take great care of him/her. I am just worried about vacations. I live alone. Would it be enough for someone to come in once a day to feed, change litter box and spend a bit of time with him/her. I would not want to stress the cat out...

fish

Hey everyone, we purchased our first aquarium (20Gal) about 2 weeks ago. I've been feeding the fish about 1 pinch of the fish food 2-3 times a day. We have 7 small fish that grow up to about 3 inches. My question, is this enough food for them or too much? I noticed some of the ...

raw food

With all the different raw food makers out there, does anyone know which ones they feel are the best to pick? My little dog has a sensitivity to diets and is currently eating Tollden Farms raw food, anyone recommend them? know of something better?

dry

breed: himalayan flame point cat has been dry heaving for a few weeks. I bought the hairball oil paste and been giving him for a couple of weeks. There was some difference but not much. Vet is saying he needs to run some tests which means making up a big bill. Is there anything else I can do from my...

insurance

I've searched pet/dog insurance and see threads a few yrs old.. people are paying around $40/month, with $100 deductible. I just checked the Trupanion site and for $46/month, the deductible is $700. Am I readying this right? Choose the $200 deductible, and price jumps up to $82/month. Have rates rea...

not

How do people handle it. The groomer Boogie uses is closed for pandemic. I guess not an essential service. Sorry not to be stuffy but we went to Petsmart once and even the dog was embarrassed with their end result .

kitten

getting a kitten soon. I have an empty room that I am going to use for the kitten for now. I think the room is a little bit too big for the kitten. Plus the room was used as storage so there are a lot of boxes with junks inside. I used cardboard, about 2 feet 10 in height to separate the room in hal...

https://globalnews.ca/news/7086674/dead ... t-ukraine/ This is just devastating. Why would they even allow the transport of 500 animals? No one came forward about the deaths so some sketchy stuff going on here... Why do humanity treat animals like garbage.

Hello fellow RFD doggy owners - hoping someone can help. I'm looking to buy a few replacement squeak plush toys for my dog - looking for the exact toy, new ones to replace a rapidly deteriorating one. This is her fave squeak toy - multi-coloured soft plush toy in the shape of a bone. I've searched h...
