GPU Mining at home
So I have about 6 PC's which according to Nicehash would generate about $1k per month if I decide to mine. This sounds attractive, but when I ran the test, a single PC sounds like a jet engine. I couldn't imagine how bad 6 would be.For those mining at home, how do you mitigate noise?

I am looking at Queen's and UBC. Are they both held in high esteem in the industry? I know Queen's has had some budget issues and hopefully they haven't hurt the mining department.

Buying Ex Mining GPU
Looking at buying a used RX 580 from kijiji for cheap. Seems like a lot of these cards were previously used to mine cryptocurrency. Is it a bad idea buying an ex mining card? Are there any other precautions I can take when buying a used card besides verifying it displays?

Used video card from a mining rig?
... I've found some good deals on kijiji for some powerful cards at discounted priced. But I'm a bit hesitant on the cards that have been hooked into mining rigs. I imagine they've been on constantly at essentially max capacity for the duration of their life span. Not sure how well these will hold ...
