Hi everyone, I have a mortgage with MCAP that was up for renewal last month. In early August I decided to do a refinance with MCAP instead of a renewal. I had to essentially start it as a new application to MCAP, so they had to do appraisal etc. For financing, they work through a company called FNF....

I got a mortgage last year at 2.6% fixed for 5 years. I have seen that the rate dropped quite a bit this year. Given that I still have 4 years, would it be better to pay the penalty and refinance at a lower rate? Or is it better just to wait few more years?
