What is going on with raspberry pi prices? $300 to $500 for model 4 with 8 gigs of ram, wasn't long ago, year or two, when it could of been had under $150. Supply chain thing?

Trying to pick a SATA SSD for Raspberry Pi
With all the talk of changed chips and general chaos I'd love some advice. I need an M.2 Sata SSD. It shouldn't be nvme. The Pi doesn't support the format. Anyone have a recommendation? See a sale? 3D Printers at BuyaPi.ca (Ender 3 v2) with free Raspberry Pi and PLA!
... seen for the Ender 3 V2 printer. I wanted to wait for Black Friday, but for $295 + $25 (shipping) + tax ($16) = $336 CAD, I got a Ender 3 V2 + Raspberry Pi 4 (2GB) + PLA (I believe 1 kg spool). Subtracting the cost of the RPi and PLA, that's about $250 (plus tax) for the printer including shipping.
