Ya I’m a complete idiot and I have been missing obvious signs of cost cutting. My company had quite a few seniors let go early December that I wasn’t aware of. I’m considered a junior with less than a year under my belt and before the holidays I asked for a raise. My manager said he’d get back to me...

... due back in October to start the new role, but I can’t help but wonder if it’s worth the risk right now to pursue outside opportunities given a recession coming. It looks like there’s lots of recruiter interests right now, but wonder if this won’t last and we’re gonna see a lot more layoffs ...
Winners: W1. First time home buyers who have good and stable incomes that allow them to save at a rate far exceeding house price growth (if any). I recently listened to this excellent Podcast episode that I highly recommend for those who are interested in borrowing, investing, recession and economics/finances in general. What was particularly interesting is how the ultra rich, banks and governments (knowingly and unknowingly) create ...

I noticed this while reviewing the cargo data. Loaded exports are down 9% (vs. first 7 months of 2020). Somewhat interesting given that 2020 was already a bad year. Is this just a statistical aberration or is something else at play? July in particular was a bad month for exports and it was the lowes...
