I'm considering signing up for Freedom Mobile talk-and-text no-data for $129/year. How reliable is roaming outside of Canada? I need it only to receive SMS. I don't need it for sending SMS or for voice calls while roaming.

Roaming in alaska
I have public mobile and it appears the US add on won’t work in alaska. The moderators are saying its because t mobile doesn’t work very well in alaska even though i used it in 2019. I think its because public mobile doesn’t support 5g. Would an esim work in alaska and what esim would i get?

Should I change any setting in the Virgin mobile website to enable roaming outside Canada? If I get a call and if it goes to voice mail would that result in any roaming charges?I just need to use the phone to get MFA texts and since it is free I do not want to buy any travel plan.
