Will 5 gallon compressor work on 4 Zone sprinkler system for winterizing purposes for a blowout - or need more power ..? One I am looking at says 1.5 Hp ,135 psi .

What steps do you guys follow when you winterize your sprinkler system? I just bought a 20 gallon air compressor, but I'm getting confused over one of the steps. New underground sprinkler
I'm about to install sprinkler on my new backyard. Went to homedepot and was advise to use 3/4" poly pipe. My yard is about 1300sq ft.So is the 3/4" poly pipe is good or I need to go to 1" poly or 1/2" poly?

Do I have to turn on and shut off our sprinkler system every year?
I was told to turn it on in May and shut it off in October every year. Are there any cons if I don't turn it on for the whole year and always use hose to water the lawn. Why does it have to be turned on every year? Sorry...never used one before...thanks.
