Talk me out of this 2016 BMW 650 for $38k

Reasonable mileage at 66,259 kms. Don't need to list the options. It has everything: AWD, floor mats, style. Original MSRP was $101,000 so that's over 60% depreciation in just four years. It'll hold it's value pretty well at this point. Yeah, it'll be a maintenance pig and it's not a CPO.

I love big powerful German cars. So why shouldn't I buy this?

If you have any deep pockets for unexpected repairs, I say go for it.

Never been a fan of any series after 4 with BMW.

Get the M3 or M4.

There is a reason it is so cheap. Hint: It is not reliability. For that money, if you want a German car, get something certified pre-owned with a warranty.
Koodo $40 10GB!

Definitely one of the less-liked BMW's, it's too chubby for my taste. But hey, it's your money.

I'm not so sure about "it'll hold it's value". BMW don't hold value at any point in it's life. In two years, it will be another 20k cheaper.

You realize it has a collision claim right? Granted, the amount is just under 5k, but still - it's likely reflected in the price.

And it's not 66259km, the picture already shows 70,804km. The dealership has probably been using this as their customer courtesy car or the Mcdonalds shuttle.

If you can afford the maintenance bills of a $100K car out of warranty, go for it.

A lot of car for the money. Have you considered the Mercedes CLS which also depreciates like a rock:

This made me laugh! For the car, I guess it depends what you are coming from. If it's a civic, well it will be a world of difference from drive to reliability. If you're already a german luxury car driver and comfortable with how running cost go, then sure.. get it.

Coming from an N54 335i, I would stay far far away - with almost 70k, in another 1-1.5 years it’s gonna need tons of work once it hits 100k. Get a CPO vehicle with at least 3-4 years warranty - there are tons for sale.

Unless you can DIY, these cars are money pits once the warranty is up. Even if you can deal with paying, your time is valuable and it just becomes a huge pain in the rear every time you visit a shop.

Buy it, you don't see lot of those on the road and you now know why. Even if you have problems, highly doubtful car will be worth 50% less $19k, a year later. Unless engine blows up, then it will be worth way less.

you dont see a lot on the road cause people cant afford the v8 guzzling premium 93/94 ... that being said dont get the 650i get a 640 ... n55 is pretty rock solid only will require oil changes and in 100k water pump plenty of power ... that beign said if you get the 650 look at bm3 or racechip should get you to stock m6 performance levels very easily :p
