Hmmmm…only $1 per transaction? A lots of work for $25 Face With Tears Of Joy
It is a marketing exercise. Tangerine wants to know, among other things, how many people will start paying bills, etc, from chequing for $1 per.

I use my debit card a lot..almost 5 to 10 times for week from groceries to gas..it is more than 25 transactions in a month
May be I use Tangerine this month and easily cross 25 transactions !
$25 just a bonus for switching my card

Why not use a credit card instead then, let’s say a CC has 4% cash back in groceries, spent $600 will give you $24 back already, probably less than 10 transactions

First I don't like debt, second I am lazy to track cc bills and pay on time..third ,,I like to carry a thin/minimalist wallet with debit one card,DL and work ID..
I like to just spend what I can afford and need ...and less motivated for impulsive buying when carrying only debit card
It does not mean I don't use credit cards..I have couple of them that I use for large purchases and pay off ...on the day statement is generated and receive email alert

I see your points
I personally tend to use only CC for the categories have high cash back like groceries and gas, also because I have the idea on what $$ I could spend, like gas is almost a fix
Indeed, tracking credit card balances are a bit frustrated while you have too many, but it’s ok to track you only use 1 or 2 cc’s

You could just pay a bill in small increments to get it, technically speaking.
