YES, you would see the offer when you login to your account online under products/credit cards for both CC (CB and World). I tested to proceed and offer was still there. They will check your credit score regardless of your credit history (I was pre-approved for 25K but automatic online application will check your credit hence expect a few points short term dent)

Trips? For everyday use, there's gas, grocery, restaurants, etc. A person has to eat even if nothing else. If you purchase clothing there's season clearances for winter items. Household items, cellphones and accessories, travel either public or private (buses, cars, rentals, etc). If you use a credit card and all the items are consolidated, you'll be surprised how much you end up spending.

check out ebates.ca gift card shop. I usually load up on Real Canadian Superstore gift cards (since we shop there) to fill any gaps in my CC spending

In my experience, this is the hardest card to get approved for for some reason.

Look into manufactured spending. At the most basic level, you can buy gift cards at grocery stores/gas stations, that way you can earn at least 2% extra at stores you already shop at.

If anyone is into churning game, this promo is just meh.. 5%+ extra return in churning is not that great. If your credit scoring isn't that great, this would be good one to start and build though.

Unfortunately, it does not seem to work when you have a secondary card for somebody else's Tangerine credit card account (i.e., you're an authorized user, but you have no Tangerine credit card account in your name).

This is 5% on ANY category as long as you hit 5k spending.

Applied on Jan 31st with special offer 4% cashback for 3 months. Then saw this new offer $250 cashback on Feb 1st and finally got to speak to a rep today but was told that I would not qualify for either special offers because I have a supplementary card from my spouse, which makes me an existing customer to Tangerine and both offers only apply to brand new customers only! Very disappointing....got excited for nothing

What a shame, I just upgraded and they didn’t give me anything. Might as well cancel and move to scotia

TD and CIBC recently had credit card offers, 10% cash back up to 2000 spend on anything.
Tangerine is super greedy as always with only 5% cash back.

Those cards you are referring to with 10% cashback sign up offers are premium cards with >$100 in annual fees although I know they do offer first year free along with these promos from time to time.

IMO, you can't compare these no fee credit cards to the premium cards in terms of the offers/incentives they offer for signing up
