Tangerine must be feeling the outflow to the B&M banks. They are reacting quite slowly for a supposed nimble player.
A CSR called me to get my business back but was speechless when asked if he could offer a little bit more than the big banks i.e. 3.+%.
He did mention that close to year end, the big banks like bulk up their assets...

I have a savings account with them and they sent me an email offer for 3% on new deposits into my savings until the end of March. Was happy with EQ Bank but I can’t not take the free extra interest for now.

YMMV but it’d be worth it to call and ask.

Why does that Deal Link have to be so long? I see a shorter, more generic link:
http://www.tangerine.ca/en/landing-page ... index.html

Goes to the same 3% promotional offer page, from what I can see. The wording there says:
Become a new Client and earn 3.00%* interest on your first Tangerine Savings Account, TFSA or RSP Savings Account for 6 months**.

Don't see why not. Earlier today I got a family member to open a new account with my key. During the process we clicked on the Sign me up button, and it shows:
"Here's a List of What You'll Need to Have Ready"
  • Your contact information: street address, phone number and email address.
  • Your Social Insurance Number
  • An Orange Key, if you have one from a referrer or a promotion
  • We'll be asking you to provide other details (such as employment information) that we're required by law to ask you for.

Just signed up, it says savings account of interest rate of 1.75%?

Do they automatically add 3% for 6 months?

I just need to open savings account only.

I was told to go Canada Post to varify my ID? That?

That's standard procedure with Tangerine. If you live near a Tangerine branch, you could also get verified there.

Yes, every month they'll automatically deposit the bonus interest so it adds up to 3%.

I didn't have to verify when I opened my account. They just asked me to send some documents via email.

I have been with Tangerine since ING first set up in Canada - definitely not a new customer. I called regardless last Friday, and asked for the 3% on my savings account (currently 1.25%); or I would have to move my money. Customer service called me back this morning (Monday) and right off the bat offered me the 3% for 6 mos. I took it.

OP thanked.

I tried this tactic to, have been a customer for probably about the same length it sounds like roughly (since back in the ING days). No dice for me :(

Same for me, no dice. I called Tangerine and explained that i can move my money to ever other bank that's offering 3%. I'll stay and keep my money if I can get 3%. Somehow I think they only try to keep those with at least 6 figures. Anyone under a certain amount they'll just let them move.

How will it work with TSFA? Does tangerine give out interest to tsfa investment account or they have an actual type of tsfa saving account?

Could be, I do fit into that bracket...
