Yes! I just got this too. Not a moment too soon with my 4.35% offer expiring at the end of the month. Looks like this applies to existing balances so no shuffle needed.

yes, same. I actually just transferred my money to BNS in case the new promotion is only for new balance. So now have to transfer back

Rats... I didn't get that email!
I believe it is a mistake to judge the quality of a decision solely by its outcome. Good decisions (i.e. lumpsum investing) can have "bad" outcomes and bad decisions can have good outcomes simply because of luck— Germack

This is how Tangerine gets you. They played the mind game that most people would not bother transfer out for 5 days of interest.

OP forgot to mention the most important part:

"The 4.75% Interest Rate Offer (the “Offer”) is only available to existing Tangerine Clients who have received this communication directly from Tangerine".

The Tangerine offer starts Jan 5, so it has 5-day gap from the end of the previous promo. And it's not as good as the 5% to Apr 30 offer I just got from Simplii.

Simplii is offering 5% interest on their high interest savings account. Ymmv

This offer is available from December 1, 2022 to April 30, 2023 (the "Offer Period"), by invitation only. The special annual interest rate of 5.00% is a combination of promotional and regular annual interest rates payable on deposits made to an eligible Simplii Financial High Interest Savings Account ("HISA"), Tax Free Savings Account ("TFSA") or RRSP Savings Account ("RRSP"), respectively (each, an "Eligible Savings Account") during the Offer Period. Eligible Savings Accounts opened before the Offer Period must be enrolled in the offer by the primary account holder. Eligible Savings Accounts opened during the Offer Period are automatically enrolled in the offer.

For Eligible Savings Accounts opened before the Offer Period that have been enrolled in the offer, promotional interest is calculated on the portion of the applicable account's average daily closing balance during the Offer Period that exceeds the closing balance as at November 30, 2022 (the "Additional Balance").

For Eligible Savings Accounts opened during the Offer Period, promotional interest is calculated on the portion of the applicable account's average daily closing balance from the date the account is opened to the end of the Offer Period (the "New Balance").

The maximum balance (which includes the Additional Balance and New Balance) that is eligible for promotional interest is $500,000 aggregated across all Eligible Savings Accounts of the primary account holder. Promotional interest will be paid in May 2023 into each eligible TFSA, RRSP and for HISAs, into a single eligible HISA held by the primary account holder that is open and in good standing at the time of payment.

Each TFSA or RRSP holder is solely responsible for knowing what their RRSP or TFSA contribution room is and not over-contributing, otherwise, penalty taxes may apply and for RRSPs, contributions may not be tax deductible. Eligible Savings Accounts will continue to earn regular interest, calculated on the daily closing balance and paid monthly.

The offer is non-transferable and cannot be combined with other promotional rate offers. Promotional interest and regular interest rates are subject to change at any time without notice. See here for the full terms and conditions.

Always hate how Tangerine plays roulette with their clients for rates.

I haven't gotten of the leave money in promos to this date.

Is it just for new deposit? Not for the money already sitting in Tangerine savings account?

So, in other words. "targeted offer (YMMV)".

Nothing to see here, moving on...............

If you're an Investor's Group customer you can get a 4.9% HISA. Prime -1.55%. This is the normal rate not a limited time promotion.

I moved out all my funds including RSP/TFSA recently so no chance I will get this offer, last offer I received was in June till Nov. 27th for 3% interest for HISA account. Oh well, getting 4.25% in Meridian till end of January.

and I admit they got me. 4.75% vs 5% elsewhere + losing 5 days of high interest, but that is just good enough for me to say "too lazy to open new account elsewhere to chase 5% for a few months". Well played Tangerine.
Amerifriend threads need to include instructions on how to acquire an amerifriend.
