Retailer:
Tangerine
More offers from Tangerine
Like many, I got offered the 3,50% from September 1st until December 31st. I had until September 30th to activate it. I forgot. So, I called them Today and they're giving me that 4,30% on taxable, US, TFSA and RRSP saving accounts.

Eligible people should have receive an email for that now. If so remember to activate it by October 16.

Thread Summary
NEW deposit only
If you didn't move $ out before 10/3, you're too late :(

----------------------------------
Click the ‘Activate Now’ button below by October 16, 2022
Eligible new deposits to these Accounts from October 4, 2022 to December 31, 2022 (up to a maximum of $1,000,000† per Applicable Account Type*) will earn your special rate of 4.30%.

Once you’ve activated, here’s how it will work:
We’ll total up the balances of your eligible Savings, TFSA, RSP Savings and US$ Savings Account(s) as they were on October 3, 2022 to get your total balances per Account Type
From October 4, 2022 to December 31, 2022, you’ll earn your special interest rate on new deposits over your total balances calculated on October 3, 2022 (up to $1,000,000† per Account Type)

The rest of your Account balance will earn the current posted rate

Folks, if you're not currently on a time-limited bonus promos at Tangerine, login to Tangerine and check your Insights section. I have a 4.3% promo until Dec 31. Might work for you too.

Thanks OP for the heads up.

Read the many other threads on the Tangerine Interest Rate Lottery.

- It's YMMV. Some people get the offer, most don't. The basis on which Tangerine makes offers appears random - in years of guessing by RFD members, nobody has discovered the criteria.

- If you didn't get the offer, you can call in, and sometimes you will get an offer - usually for less than the maximum, but usually something - if you are not on an existing offer.

- If you are on any existing promo interest rate offer, Tangerine usually won't make you a new offer.

where I belong
now I feel pissed for Tangerine offering me 180-day GIC at 4% only BOO

but what do I now, say my balance is 100K in HISA now already, do I have to move out and move back in? or I'm too late as it's NEW deposit only? WTF
In future I'm moving out as soon as any promo ends (I got 2.6% until 9/30)

So you want Tangerine to be charitable and offer 5.25%? Mortgages are backed by term deposits not savings accounts where the money can go in and out anytime?

Tangerine moved a little too slow, I moved my deposits to CIBC for 4.25 already. No idea if they'll grant me the 4.3 as well as they want new deposits. Always been a little skeptical about that, but if anyone can confirm if you can move money out and back in during their promo period, that'd be great.

For people considering GICs, the Fed already mentioned they're expecting an additional 125 basis points by end of year in their last meeting, so BoC will likely be within that range as well. Not saying that you should hold them by their every word (RIP for all variable mortgage holders thanks to Tiff Macklem). But I'm not planning to lock into anything this year.

For once I did get this offer. Only to Dec 31? New money only. Meh, hardly worth it.

Silly error by Tangerine: after accepting the offer, it asks if I want to transfer money to the eligible accounts, and offers me transfer buttons. When I click on one, it offers only my Tangerine accounts as the source, not my 3 linked external accounts, which would not be money eligible for this offer.

Thanks. I didn't receive any email. Saw this post and logged into my account and the offer popped up.
