Tart Cherry Juice Concentrate

I was channel surfing yesterday and started to watch Dr. Oz. On his show he mentioned how good Tart Cherry Juice Concentrate was for anti-inflammatory and insomnia.

Where can I get this stuff. I wouldn't mind trying it out for a while, but I just don't know which brand is good. So if anyone out there has any insight on this stuff, please share. Much appreciated!!!!

I've seen bottled tart cherry juice at NF. Not sure how good it is. I might pick up a bottle next time I go.

Most natural health food stores should have it (Noah's, Big Carrot, etc).

I know that Ambrosia does have it.

Funny...I also saw the show and I bought a bottle of the cherry juice at No Frills (Warden/Hwy 7). I think it was $4 - not a concentrate.

Thanks to all that have replied. I was doing a bit of research and apparently you need to be carefull of where you buy and which company. So far from what I've read the product produced at Taverse Bay Farms has proven to be the best quality of concentrate.

Does it have to be 'tart' cherry juice or does pure black cherry juice (no sugar added) be the same ?

I am not sure and only familiar with all natural black cherry juice

Reporting back:

The product I bought at No Frills is Tamek Sour Cherry Nectar (1 Litre). It says on the label, minimum 35% fruit juice.

http://www.sayadmarket.com/products/Tam ... ectar.html

Taste: It was tart. But pretty refreshing cold.

I'd buy it again.

I picked up the same brand last night from the NF near Midland and Steeles. It was $3.29 for the 1L bottle.
Head's up if you are watching your sugar intake. 30gms sugar/ 250mL and 2nd ingredient on the list.

Perhaps only health food stores carry the unsweetened versions? I recall seeing Sour Cherry "Juice" at some Middle Eastern stores. Not sure if they have any brands without added sugar.

Hmm, I am seriously considering to get some, but I was wondering:

1. How are you supposed to drink this? Like do you mix it with water? I have no clue x.x Or are you supposed to just drink a small amount of it each day?

2. Anyone out there that bought it, how do you like the taste of it?

:) Thankss ^__^

I just picked up a bottle of Knudsen 100% pure black cherry juice in the health section of Loblaws. No sugar added. It was very sweet. Reminded me of drinking grape juice.

I am going to add half of perrier or club soda to it. Will cut the calories and sweetness.

With the Tart Cherry Juice Concentrate I beleive you mix 1 oz of the concentrate with 7 oz of water.

I'm heading down to the states next week so hopefully I will find some there.

Just wanted to bump this thread to ask if anyone has any other specific stores to suggest for finding tart/ sour cherry juice at the lowest price possible. My mom's been bringing this stuff up to me lately because she watches that Dr Oz snake oil salesman and takes everything he says as gospel (even after I tell her how obvious it is that he is willing to say anything no matter how bunk and pseudo science based it may be, and even after I show her articles about how much of a quack and a shill he's proven to be over the years).

She wants to try it to help her sleep better, so I want to buy some for her from some place that sells it at a relatively inexpensive price point before she goes out and wastes a ton of money for something of equal or lesser quality at some over priced health food store.

This stuff is $28 for 750ml, about what I pay for good shiraz, also antioxidant!

I had a sample on Christmas day, and it is pleasant but tart.
The website says it is a good source of Vitamin A but the nutrition label says it is not a source of anything other than carbs/sugars. The processing probably wipes out vitamins, and enzymes. At least my shiraz has unprocessed natural benefits!
