Tassimo T12 now replacing the T20

Just a update here. My Tassimo model T20 was giving problems, with warranty ending next month. So calling Tassimo Canada there replacing it. The model T20 is now discontinued and being replaced with the new model T12 (called vivy) which is what their sending me. Soon as it arrives I will post what the T12 is like compared to the T20 None of the stores here have the T12 yet, but you can see pics online.

I asked which models we will have now. The T12 and T47 and T55 will be the only models. All the other models (including the T65) will be gone, once the stores sell out their remaining stock.

So this might make some good sales on the discontinued models T20 and T65 if their clearing them out.

Well I can't give any reviews, as they sent me another t-20 back. They said they still had some left yet. Not that it makes any difference, but the batch number stamped on the side of the box says 9507 which would be the newest batch.

The new Tassimo T-12 models are now out. The London Drugs store here got some in, and had one on display too. It's more compact size to the other models (can fit into a smaller space) and the water tank fits into the side of the machine. The price 149.00 plus tax. Being it's new the price is probably up a bit until a sale. You can see it here. It does have a drip tray, it's just not in their picture.

Walmart may get them in too. Just for info, if you have the Tassimo adjustable hot water t-disc (green/white coloured one) which I have, it will work with the t-20 the t-65, and the also the new t-12)

EDIT
I was at another Canadian Tire location last night. They had the discontinued T-20 model on clearance for 47.00 price. So if looking for a Tassimo this might be the time to get a good deal. I would have bought one, but I already have 3 of them.

More news.......Tassimo is releasing another new brewer in Europe. It releases in about a week, but some UK sites already have it.

It's called the Tassimo "My Way" brewer. It has 3 temperature settings for how hot you want it. There are 3 strength settings, how strong you want your coffee, and 3 cup size settings. You can also save up to 4 of your settings. This will give competition to Keurig.

I'm sure Canada will eventually get this one too. I think we got the T-12 model a year later then Europe. Anyways here you can see it.

Uhh are you sure? This is a Tassimo thread you've had going for like 2 years now and you're the lone poster, lol. Meaning no one really cares about Tassimo. TBH, IMO, Tassimo is pretty crap. One girl brought one to work because she got a Keurig...she actually used a p-touch to put her name on it so people would know not to steal it or whatever. But then later she quit the job but just left the Tassimo there, lol. Around the same time she brought the Tassimo, we got a Keurig machine as well. While the Tassimo is upstairs (on the floor I work on) and the Keurig downstairs, I don't think anyone has ever bothered to use the T-disc spinning machine, lol. I did initially buy both T-discs and K-Cups but after going through a few T-discs I gave up on it because it's really pretty sub-standard. Now I just buy K-cups for the Keurig and though I left some remaining T-discs by the Tassimo they're still there unused LOL.

Granted, at home, I have a Dolce Gusto which is easily less popular than even Tassimo. But it also makes better coffee than both the Keurig and the Tassimo (the latter by a longshot). So at least it has that going for it. I'm not about to say that it's going to give any "competition" to the likes of Keurig though, as the time for that has long come and gone and time has proven you just can't touch that empire of "coffee pod coffee".

The "pod wars" are long over and Keurig won by a landslide.

One thing that always bothered me about both the Keurig and the Tassimo (besides the low pressure on them) is why on Earth they brew the coffee through a plastic dispenser. This means the coffee always touches the same part and over time it affects the flavour; and if you brew a tea after brewing a coffee without thoroughly cleaning it out (which oh so pleasant with sharp needles inside the Keurig!) you're surely going to end up with "cofftea" lol. In the Dolce Gusto the capsule is the nozzle/spout so you can brew chocolate after coffee, tea after that, and the thing you brewed before will not affect the taste of the next thing. The irony of course is the machine has only like three varieties in Canada anymore lol. Europe gets an actual selection and even the US you can get varieties we don't get here.

Actually quite the opposite here. If you go into the RCSS at night the A lot of the Tassimo self is empty, but still lots of Keurig pods. Keurig pods are way more expensive here then the Tassimo pods, which I think is part of the reason.

Well I did some searching. Tassimo now is owned majority by Jacobs Douwe Egberts, and Kraft Mondelez international owns the rest of the shares. Jab holdings Europe (who owns Jacobs Douwe Egberts) with other investors bought out Keurig in 2016 for 13.9 billion. So your probably right, now about competition..........since Jab Holdings owns most of Tassimo and Keurig that ended the coffee war. They will probably keep both going.

What are you on about? How was I being a wiseass?

I was merely stating some facts.
-We have a Tassimo and a Keurig at my workplace. No one uses the Tassimo, this is a fact. The person that brought it there didn't even bother to take it with them when they left the company, again a fact.

-Keurig popularity is unbeatable. Again go to any of the shops that specialise in pods and guess where the largest level of stock is? K-Cups. Fact.

-This thread is two years old and prior to me posting on it, only one other person had been posting. Again a fact. There is no fanfare or even a hint of interest here from anyone else.

But I guess posting lame one-liners that do nothing else but name-call is much better  You'd do well to run for President of the US though.

Does it taste exactly the same as let’s say just for an example:

McDonalds Tassimo = McDonalds coffee?

I've been happily using a Tassimo at home for years now, just don't need another one. So the OP isn't the only one out there using it. I bought it when there was a good deal - buy some coffee and the machine was free. We have a Keurig at work and I actually prefer the Tassimo because it does lattes. We use it mostly on weekends for those and on weekdays we just make a regular pot of brewed coffee. Half the people I know seem to be roasting their own beans these days anyways ;)

I have both a Tassimo and a Keurig. I got the Tassimo free when Tim Horton's gave them away a few years ago. My Tassimo sat packed away once we finished the Tassimo pods that were purchased at Tim Horton's to get the free brewer.
The Keurig is a much better product as far as cheapskates like me go - I can use my own refillable pod + there are lots of discounted K-Cups available.
That being said I was on a driving vacation in the States and found a grocery store in Virginia liquidating short dated Tassimo discs for $0.99 a package (several varieties) - I bought about 25 packages and dug the Tassimo brewer out of the box.
As soon as they are gone - back in the box/basement goes the Tassimo.

Yes, I love the idea of the refillable pod that the Keurig has. I think no matter which one you get, if you're using pods to 'brew' your coffee every day, its just plain old expensive.

We had a keurig and a tassimo and I resold the keurig. Much prefer the tassimo. We brew most of the time however if we occasionally dont brew we use the tassimo. Or I use it in the evening for hot chocolate or lattes. Love it.

Yes I've had McDonalds Tassimo, and it taste just like it does at Mcdonalds. The Tim Hortons also tastes just like it does from the drive through. The barcode on the t-discs tells the brewer the water temperature. McDonalds and Tim Hortons brew at a very hot temperature from the hot steam you can see.

We had the Tassimo T55 which we just recently replaced with the T20. I didn't find the McDonald's coffee out of the pod tasted anything like the McDonald's coffee from the shop. I'm a contractor and on the road a lot, so I get a lot of Timmy's and McDonald's coffee; I'm quite familiar with how it tastes.

My wife swears by the Tassimo, but that's mostly because she loves the lattés and cappuccinos. I've had the coffee from the Keurig and from the Tassimo. While I like the flavor out of the Tassimo better, I like the variety for the Keurig. If I was still single and only buying it for me, I would probably buy the Keurig just for the variety. Refillable pods aren't a huge draw for me. If I was going to do that, I may as well just buy a grinder and a french press. It would be even better coffee.
