TCL TV Repair Question - where and how much
I bought a TCL 55R617 from amazon in 2018 year end at $850 + tax, and it was in the first month that model was available on Amazon.
3 weeks ago it suddenly blacked out when watching it as usual (no issue with socket or power supply because other appliances were working well).
I tried a few basic troubleshooting steps but could never power it back on. Called TCL customer service and they don't provide any support since it's (JUST) beyond 1 year warranty.
I googled for some TV repair shops and all quotes are $250+
Is it really worth the $ getting it repaired? I feel this is soooooo unlucky, especially during this lockdown....
any ideas? or any recommendation on TV repair shops?
For sometime I still receive very kind suggestion and advice PMs on my bloody tv and I feel grateful!
In the end I managed to find a parts shop on eBay - shopjimmy! US shop offers that power supply board and I replaced the malfunction power supply board by myself and the tv is back to work now
It still restarts itself for a few times, but in an acceptable level - maybe every 3 or 4 weeks on average. So I won't bother to check anything further.
Lesson 1: Get your electronics from a retailer offering extended warranty
Lesson 2: If 1 fails, purchase your electronics with a good credit card that offers extended warranty
Lesson 3: If 2 fails, work hard to make more money, so you can just get a new one, instead of wasting a ton of time resourcing it or fixing it
Lesson 4: If 3 fails, prepare to be an expert of all appliances you ever have and you can still enjoy a happy life fixing them yourself.
