Do you have to go in person to TD Bank to open the account ? Can you do the cancellation online or through the phone ? I remember the first time I opened a bank account with Desjardins and I would rather not have 300$.

My personal banking is with BMO, wife is with TD. We also have a TD joint account, would this render me ineligible if I switch to TD for my personal account?

Opened on August 15.
Paid one bill on August 24 and Did a Pad on August 30.
Received 300$ on September 15.
Same.
Got $300 this Monday.

Will keep this account though.

I opened online.
To cancel, I'm not sure.
Many years ago, I want to cancel the TD account and had to go to branch, showing ID etc...

Has anyone been forced to go in to open this account? I am being told I have to go in to sign something and that I can’t do it online.

It must be my luck (or lack of) with TD. Last round of chequing account offer, I had to go to the branch in person for identity verification. Few months earlier than that, with a new TD Aeroplan visa application, I had to do the same too. While I thought it was a bit hassle, I don't mind, less the waiting time, the identify verification process like a new credit card application.

Cheers.

Unlike many new chequing account promotions, TD does not have a clawback clause in the terms and conditions. You should be safe in closing or downgrading the account after you receive the $300 bonus.

I'm curious if this offer is valid for those who have an US$ checking account but no canadian checking account?

You can cancel by calling in or by sending a secure msg via easy-web, as long as your balance is zero or very close to it (they can donate any remaining amount to children's foundation).

Doesn't seem to be getting longer. I last received the $300 bonus in '16, so I guess it's time for me to go again.

I doubt a US chequing account holder would be eligible for this offer since the terms and conditions say the $300 cash offer is available to Canadian residents that do not have an existing TD chequing account.

DP. On 9/3/20 I opened a TD Unlimited Chequing Account online. I made an online $50 bill payment 9/3 and PAD on 9/15 (BMO credit card). I received the $300 SUB 9/28/20. I changed the account type from UNLIMITED to MINIMUM on 9/29/30. I will keep the account open for a few more weeks to ensure my 2nd BMO PAD meets the Recurring Pre-Authorized Debit requirment. Easy money so far.
