TD web broker questions

I just opened a new account with TD. It's webroker platform
There are some things which I am not clear about. Can someone please guide me a bit.
A. There is no but sell icon when I log in. Is it because I don't have any balance or because my account is not fully setup?
B. What is the difference between web broker and direct investing?
Will appreciate any help. Thank you

A. Buy/ Sell icon should be on top right area. Not sure if need money to see the icon, but you can't buy without money anyway. You can go to Transfer to transfer some money into your trading account.
B. I think web broker is a part of direct investing.

WebBroker is the web access to the TD Direct Investing.

Like EasyWeb is to TD Canada Trust banking.

I see. Somehow my account has not been set up properly. On hold with their support for last 34 mins even though I must be first caller of the day. Ridiculous telephone support

We used to access TDDI through WebBroker. Now we access both TD Canada Trust banking and TD Direct Investing through EasyWeb.

Are you sure? At the risk of belabouring a distinction without a difference, TD allows me to access both EasyWeb and WebBroker with one connect ID, and to easily switch between them without having to log in again. But they are different. When I go to www.tdcanadatrust.com or www.td.com I get a choice of logging on to "EasyWeb Online Banking" or "WebBroker Online Trading". I can see my TDDI account balances in EasyWeb, but accessing TDDI accounts or making trades requires WebBroker.

When using EasyWeb the URL starts with https://easyweb.td.com
When using WebBroker the URS starts with https://webbroker.td.com

Now can we go back to something more fun like debating whether dividend growth is a superior investing strategy, or whether the S&P500 can continue to outperform the Canadian and global markets forever? :)

Hey Deepwater, you're a smart person, smarter than me in fact, and I acknowledge that. However, we used to access through Webbroker, but our id's and passwords's for that don't work anymore. Can't remember the exact details, (I'm 68, and my memory is not quite what it was), but a few years ago after we got our access cards from TD Canada Trust, we could only access both our banking and TDDI through EasyWeb. I just do a quick Google search for TD EasyWeb and make sure there's a lock in the URL. That's the way I signed on today, not through Webbroker.

A long, long time ago it was with Greenline, so thing's do change, and I accept that.

I've been around long enough to remember when an investor could only allocate 10% foreign to an RRSP. Canadians were complaining because the American market was doing so well Once the Canadian government of the day relaxed the foreign content rules, the TSE at the time started doing better than the S&P 500. Every dog has it's day. Then again, most of our combined portfolios are in Canadian assets, and I'm not complaining. Going back to 1900, Canada has been one of the best countries in the world to invest in.

Have a nice day and a great 2018.

TD Canada Trust easyweb has its own logon ID. TD DI Webbroker has its own logon ID. You can log into each one separately.

From easyweb, it also displays what you have in Financial Planning account (if you hold something there), and your TD DI webbroker holdings (based on yesterday's closing), and your PIC holdings if you have any. For the lines pointing to TD DI holdings, you can click and it'll take you to TD DI webbroker, which requires a logon into TD DI webbroker.

In you TD DI webbroker account, you can see your TD DI holdings, and PIC holdings if you have any, but not the Financial Planning holdings, nor the retail bank holdings that are only accessible through easyweb.

You can connect your easyweb to TD DI webbroker login, setting it up once, then every time after with one click it gets into TD DI webbroker without having to logon. That is, it logs on for you seamlessly. From webbroker, you can also click to get back to easyweb, if you're not timed out.

Last Fri. (Dec. 29) both Easyweb and Webbroker were down most of the afternoon. Today Easyweb was up, while Webbroker were down most of the time.
