[TD] XFX Radeon R9 295X2 8GB with Liquid Cooling - $819/$789 AR (includes DiRT Rally)

Deal Link:
EDIT 2: Sale down to $819 and $789 after rebate for those still interested. They now include Dirt Rally with purchase as well.

EDIT: Original deal for $763 AR seems to be dead. Price jumped up to $975 and $945 AR. Additionally, seems like AMD is gonna announce the 300 series on June 3rd at Computex (http://www.amdcomputex.com.tw/). I'd definitely say wait now for the 300 series to see what it offers.

Saw this and thought it was a decent deal for a high-end GPU considering a single GTX 980 is $700 on its own. $793 before rebate and $763 after; comparable to the US sale prices for a 295x2 from what I've seen.

That being said, the 390x is supposed to launch soon so might want to take that into consideration if you plan on getting a new GPU. Rumoured to be pretty beastly, but costly too at around $700+ US meaning around $1k in Canada.

I'd hold off at this point, see what the R300 brings like you mentioned OP.

You do realize that the 390X is a single GPU (rumor) while 295 X2 is a dual GPU (2 290X) and great at 4K.

No rumour there since it doesn't fit their new naming scheme. That doesn't change the fact that it's releasing soon so you may want to hold out a bit to check it out.

The 290X is a single card GPU so the 390X should be a single GPU.

TD is the worst company I've ever dealt with - and I always give people the benefit of the doubt as we all make mistakes. However TD really went the distance.
I ordered an SSD they had on sale, they shipped me an empty box. Yes empty. They then accused me of trying to rip them off. I politely explained to them that it should be a very simple process of looking at the weight of the box, the weight of the SSD (+packaging) and then compare that to the shipping weight.

Quick, easy, simple - right?

Nope.

After a MONTH of going back and forth with them waiting for a refund I finally decided to let my CC company deal with it and reported as non-delivery.

That was the first and only time I ever bought from them. Never again.

No sense in complaining about a bankrupt company anyways but that's terrible what happened. Though I have heard of people not claiming receiving the goods when they did. They didn't sign for it when accepting delivery and then claiming non delivery.

Which is all fine so I understood where they were coming from. However the fact that I didn't have resolution 1 month after receiving the box and it was the 2nd email I pointed out to them the listed weight of the shipment was less than that of the SSD alone. You would have thought that would have been the end of it.

Never said it wasn't.

TD does have some shady business practices, e.g. their own MIRs and 'antivirus', but I haven't heard of anyone not receiving their shipment and getting the run-around. Could just be an isolated incident. Luckily for anyone purchasing, this MIR goes through XFX I believe.

I'm surprised people have had so much trouble with TigerDirect. I only bought with them 3 times. But the latter 2 times, I get the MIR and the first time, I bought a $200 monitor which they just put on my door step without signing or anything. That is absolute bull***** but that was problem with UPS and not TD.

I'm holding out for the R390x....there's going to be ALOT of enhancments with the new GPU. Especially when it comes to utilization with mantle and DX12. This will also include the new 3D stacked HBM. Apparently the memory channels are going to be expanded greatly as well due to the new memory spec. I'm holding off just for that.

For someone who doesn't care, the R295x is an AMAZING card in the current market. I'm saving my $$$ for the next best thing.

I highly prefer UPS. Fast, and ETA's are deadly accurate. Doesn't hurt that the guy who delivers my neighborhood also delivers to my work. I've declared my own customs before to avoid their bogus brokerage fees, but that's my only complaint.

Honestly, if you're buying this type of card you're probably a hardware enthusiast so by the time DX12 becomes widely adopted and utilized, you'll probably be getting/already have your next card anyways.

It must be my address or something (but ive been here 15 years and everyone else delivers fine).

I have had 5 packages not make it to my house this year. Basically, the first time it occured through amazon - it would show out for delivery in concord (im in brampton) and it would fail delivery. I had to call in and reconfirm my address, next day same thing occured so i just called to hold it for pickup @ the facility in concord.

last week i had an SSD from staples, it shows no "out for delivery"; just that it was due by the end of the day. I called in asking if this was going to be delivered around 5pm, they said yes but it was weird no out for delivery scan ... 1 hr passes, its marked as delivery attempt failed... I call in again - this time i schedule it for pickup at the concord location and all is fine. Two hours later, its marked as Delivered on UPS tracking.... The UPS driver left it in Brampton, at some random computer hole-in-the-wall shop for me to pickup.....

I never had to sign off for anything, i can claim i never received the package at this point if i really wanted to and they cant do anything to prove otherwise.

They left a macbook outside on the doorstep once, i face a VERY busy street with high foot traffic in the afternoon due to schools. They also left a monitor on the doorstep, not even in any concealed box just the retail packaging. both items signature required by shipper.

you can go youtube a ton of videos of ups drivers running drop off scams. they leave the item on the doorstep and steal it later - or a friend steals it - or they steal other deliveries.

UPS = SCUM.

I order so many items online, the vast majority make it even with UPS - but how the same situation has now occurred 5 times this year alone beats me... .. must be a lazy driver.
