Techo Bloc vs Permacon Vs Unilock

Planning to build an interlock patio in the backyard..different contractors told me different things.
One said Techo Bloc colour fade, Permacon is better.
The other said Techo Bloc is the best.
Both said Unilock is a lot more expensive than the other two.

What's your experience with these pavers? Which stone have you used.
Personally I like Techo Bloc (Blu 60) or Permacon (Trafalgar or Mondrian 80) Or Unilock (Il Campo).
Feel free to post a photo of your beautiful interlock patio/driveway or any recommendations
Looking to get some idea of the type of stone to use. Thanks!

Well this is ironic. We did our backyard patio with Techo Bloc Blu 60 and a small patio in our front with Permacon Trafalgar. They both felt like quality stones, I think you'll be good either way. The Techo Bloc ones we got were much bigger in size, though I think Permacon Trafalgar also comes in a mega size or something to compete on size as well.

If I was building a new house and had to choose just one, I'd probably go with the Techo Bloc.

In same situation right now, looking at Techo Bloc Blu 60mm or Pemacon Mondrian 60mm right now.
I think the pricing is almost the same, it will probably come to which color we like better.

Here's a quick link in case you wanted to compare pricing differences between some manufacturers.

We used a combination of Permacon Mondrian Penfield Brown alongside Laurentia Grey. Couldn't be happier one year later.

Just installed last year:

Next year is Phase 2: new deck and installation of a 30ft pool about 10 ft to the left of the patio.

6 skids of Permacon- 4 down and 2 to go (backyard).

Permacon are in the middle-range when it comes to pavers. With proper maintenance and treatment - they should last (at least that's my hope).

You went for the Natural sealer ? Gotta figure out which one makes the color pop but does not give it shiny/glossy look.
Drove around today looking at Techobloc and Permacon and colors are so dull when dry, totally different when wet.

We also applied a matte sealer (didn't like the looks of the glossy or satin ones): http://www.permacon.ca/product/landscap ... pro/sealer
In the process of laying 500 Sq feet of oaks rialto. How necessary is the cleaner? Can I get away with not using it?

Correct, I used the Natural sealer. The blocks are naturally quite dull and there's not much you can do about that. However, the cleaner really helps in this regard as is speeds up the process at which calcium deposits, etc are removed from the stone. At least that is what I was told and I tend to believe it since the color of my patio is quite a bit more vivid than my neighbor's which was installed around the same time. He didn't use the cleaner or sealer.

Sure. However, it may take several years for your stones to "breathe" and attain their final color.

Is the cost big for the sealer and the cleaner, and can you do this yourself ?
Also what's the process for applying both cleaner and sealer, roll on, or spray on ?

The sealer and cleaner work ok prices very I suggest the stuff Techo-bloc carries seems to keep most customers happy. On the back the process will be diagramed. Hope this helps Also look at Techo bbloc.com for all products and The How too category.

Is Techno-Bloc 60mm paver still better than Oaks or Unilock pavers (ex. Beacon Hill Smooth - Opal Smooth) or Highthorn Shale stone?
