I've never bought extended warranties for TV before. Mainly I haven't paid more the 1k for a TV in the past. Is it necessary ? Is Sony's quality really the so called "panel lottery" ??

Total waste of money. Buy with a credit card that extends your warranty. ANY GOOD store will allow panel exchanges.

I'm wondering the same thing. If I were to buy sub 1K tv esp from Costco I would definitely opt the ext warr.

But now it's $350 diff between Costco and teletime/visions....and this is highly reputable Sony in question.

Depending, credit card may extend coverage to 2nd yr, 1st being Sony.

Don't know how solid the (3rd party) ext warr service is from teletime/visions....anyone with experiences?

Also what did the rep at teletime/visions say about dead pixels, banding, blooming...has anyone returned one recently without a hard time?

Visions is solid but you still don't need it. They DO offer panel exchanges should you be in the very small minority that get a bad one.

I think you don't need extended warranty. It has 1-year manufacture warranty. When I had a problem with the screen months after I bought a tv, they just replaced it with a new one, it was delivered.

Sony has a very poor reputation for warranty service due to their small market presence here

Sony hasn't been highly reputable in a long time

I just walked out of BB and the sony Rep told me 65” x850F will be $1299 (from $1799) tomorrow morning.
Anyone can confirm better price elsewhere?
