Where do I go to request fibre in my neighborhood? All I can do is check availability for my address, but there is no option to request or find a schedule of installation.

I just signed up student plan 300, unlimited data for $ 45 for 8 months. Telus will match 12 months if Shaw has 12 month student plan.

With my previous promo expiring on Aug 3rd I was going to jump on this deal but I don't like these types of promo's where the rates double after the introductory period.

Called retention's and after haggling a bit I've decided to just keep Fiber 150/150 Unlimited @ $60/mo for 12 months, no contract.

Seems fair enough.

how easy do you guys think it is to call 6months into the 2 year plan (for internet 300) and get it changed to not be paying full price? I've always been a shaw customer when living with my parents, and ive moved out and still using

shaw as the landlords i rent from give me free wifi, however its just not cutting it for my gaming and wanting to give the telus fibre 300 a try but the thought of paying 110$ ... yikes

Glad you're happy with the speed, but it seems like you're paying much more ($225 more for the first six months then $10/mo more) for a service that has a 15x slower upload.

Decided to sign up with Telus 300 for the next 2 years, it'll be nice to only pay 55$ for the first 6 months, and once that time is almost up I'll call in and see what we can do about the price after the promotion.

this is because Telus do not support most of buildings and apartments with their fiber.. in our apartment they only offer 15mbps .. but SHAW supports 300mbps downloads so i pulled the trigger and im hapoy with the speed :D

Shaw's is 8 months. But I never found out if that was the only student offering they have.

Either way, if our neighborhood was wired for fibre I'd have got on this in a snap.

I signed up online and it gave me an offer for 1 year at $55 then goes to $110... That was last week on their site and I made an appointment online to have it installed this week so have to see if it actually comes. I assumed they would call to confirm but it did up a contract and shows the same. That was in Vancouver.

I live in a densely populated area so I chose Telus but I’d be open to Shaw if they fixed this problem. Reason being is that I find Telus Optik TV to be of poor visual quality, they encode their TV channels at 5.6 Mbps whereas Shaw is 7-8 Mbps, resulting in a higher quality picture.
I've never compared the two as in the past I'd only ever had Optik TV.
One thing I have noticed though is that since cutting the cord last week that the 7 free OTA channels @ 1080p I receive do appear to be clearer than what I was getting with Optik TV.
Can't complain for free, and with the amount of streaming available online I don't miss the other channels from their $23/mo (after discounts) Essentials package in the slightest.
I guess it wasn't so "essential" after all. Winking Face
