Is there a way to upgrade from the Pure Fibre Internet 150 $55 for 6 month new customer offer to the 300/300 option?

Question for you guys who are already using Fibre Optic at home.. 150Mbps and higher..

Does switching from 50Mbps to Fibre Optic really make a big difference on your everyday usage?

What are some of benefits you have experience after switching to higher speeds?

My neighbourhood is getting fibre optic from Telus, so I'm just wondering if it's worth it to switch. $110/month to me seems a little expensive after promo is over

Thank you!

Telus is telling me 300/300 isn't available in my area even though I have FTTH and 150 right now... hmmmm.

I went from 50 to 150. I didn't see any significant difference in my use(except when I do speedtest). The only reason I upgraded was the difference was $5 between the two tiers and I just had to do it! Right now, if I have to choose between 50+unlimited data or 150 with a cap at 1TB, I will switch to 50+unlimited. Just my thoughts.

@Kaidom

If you are currently on the initial $55/M for 6M on Net 150 yes you should be able to carry that over to the 300.

@jonsey737 you can pm me your address and I can have a quick look for you, as that seems a little strange.

I haven't switched to Telus yet (currently on Shaw 25) but it's not more about the speed and more about the traffic. it's also the fact that cable slows down depending on how much internet traffic is in your area at any given time of day which affects your speeds. Additionally, you might need 150 Mbps or higher depending on how many people live in your home. I know I'm dying with 25 Mbps if literally 1 person downloads anything that doesn't have bandwidth management...

I've been on the 150/150 package for almost 2 years now and I've never paid full price. When you call to cancel just tell the first CSR that you want to cancel your service. If she / he asks you any questions or tries to help you say no you've been great or whatever I just want to cancel. These first line CSR's will sometimes try and make you a deal..."They don't have the good deals" so they will put you through to retention's / loyalty. Once I'm on with these CSR's I just calmly and nicely tell them Shaw was just at my door and they can offer me XYZ and so far Telus has been willing to make a deal to keep me as a customer.

What was their best deal?

I was offered 150 Fiber Unlimited for $70/mo + taxes for a year, no contract, just month to month pricing.

It sounds OK on paper, but for the past year I've been paying $65/mo all-in for the same Internet, but also have Optik TV Essentials.

So with this "retention offer" I'd be losing the TV service, and paying more after taxes. :rolleyes:

Seems like a kick in the groin.

They wouldn't budge today...3 months for $55/month for the 300/300, my promo just ended on my 150/150. I tried to get 6 months at $55 but they were firm on a 2 year contract. I'll call back in 3 months once this promo expires.

I have 150/150 now, they said it's 95$/month for 24 months, then $110/month after that.
