Does anyone know what the policy is on grandfathering plans when you're no longer a govt employee? I'm told they are just for current employees and was just given 30 days notice.

Also interested in whether these plans (the account) can be transferred to another family member? Thanks!

Was told several years ago that if I was no longer with a company, I could still keep the plan as long as I didn’t renew. She basically said, we won’t hunt you down. Guess things have changed if you’re getting a notice.

Anyone know if the 30% applies to additional lines or just the primary line? Don't feel like I've gotten a straight answer and don't' want to port 4 lines over only to discover I only get the discount on the first line.

You don't get the 30% discount on additional lines.

60byop 10gb koodo and 70 byop 10gb rogers
replacing rogers makes it worth while but not so much the koodo one.
so just debating and giving thoughts

I'm just showing you the math not telling you whether its a good deal or not.

($60 x 24 = $1440 + $1260 = $2700) - ($90 x 24 = $2160 + $190 = $2350)

(Current plan + outright) - (New plan + phone subsidy) = $350

To show you I wasn't making up random formulas, I just went through this in November.

Previous plan

Telus Corporate (BYOP)
Canada/US $42.00 + 2.5 GB data $24.50 total $66.50

Renewed at
Canada/US $63.00 + 1 GB + 4 GB bonus $17.50 total $80.50 (keep in mind I was looking at about 2 GB overall because I don't use a lot so went with the cheapest data plan at the time)
Samsung s9 for $0

So my magic number is $14 more per month x 24 months = $336. If I could get a Samsung s9 for that price I would have stayed at my BYOP plan. But at that time (November 2018) it was still going for over $600 on craiglist. I think I could have gotten a Samsung s9 from Samsung Canada for $899. So I valued renewing over keeping my old plan and a HTC One M8.
