Good deal. I did this about a month ago.
Price errors are the only real sales :)
I refused to be gouged by canadian retailers when purchases can be made in the U.S for a LOT less..

Are you able to put a PAY and TALK phone onto a contract?

At Bell you cannot - it would be awesome if you could with them but I have failed a number of times.

I think it's a $50 air time credit not 50 off the phone

Blah - you still gotta pay $100

OP makes it sound like you only pay $50

I have done it with bell, as well as telus. Each time, I did it in-store. Had to pay a fee, but it was worth it for the convenience. Just told the belll/telus rep that I was interested in purchasing a prepaid phone and putting in on an existing contract (told them I've heard it had been done before). Worked fine for my gf (she's in the middle of a bell contract) as well as myself (in the middle of telus contract) Had to pay a swap fee for both (i believe it was 25-30) but considering how much cheaper the phone was compared to the no-contract price, I was more than happy.

Some ppl really get bent over by these cell companies. The M540 is 229 no contract price, or 79.99/29.99 2yr-3yr contract. bleh

I've done it with Telus, no problems. Better than being put on contract.

I've also done it with Rogers but that was years ago with a TDMA phone.
