[Telus] Telus Unlimited Nationwide Calling 100$/ Year (1 year only)

Was looking for a plan for my parents simple talk and text.

Came across this plan special which is 100$ for the year unlimited nationwide calling. ( 8.33 a month)

Only downside I can see with this plan is limited texting amount so I consider this "warm".

Still though if you just want to treat this as unlimited calling for home phone usage with an older spare cell phone for the kids, business line, senior, etc I think it's a pretty good deal and better reception/service than the freedom deal for less than 10 bucks a month.

Tempted to use this as a secondary line for my business and switch from voip.ms for this price but wondering about hassle one year from now to switch back and missed calls for a few days during port in/out.

Edit: For what I can see the closest thing price wise with this coverage is $15 a month with either koodo or public mobile. Not unlimited minutes but you do get unlimited text.

For 8.33 a month this is a much better deal for unlimited calling optionality.

This would be good even as a call forwarding phone.

Edit 2: 40% of downvotes are for "not a good price"

Show me an unlimited calling plan nationwide coverage for less than $8.33 a month. Voip.ms alone charges 80 cents just to have a number with them.

Yes I understand the 400 texts is annoying this plan is still almost half the price of the next level plan though at $15 a month for nationwide network coverage (which as far as I can see is limited on outgoing minutes with unlimited incoming https://www.koodomobile.com/en/prepaid- ... epaidPlans).

To each their own.

For children texting is more important than talking.
Also it is limited to local calls.

No it's not. Look at the promo. Unlimited nationwide.

For a phone that sits on the kitchen counter for less than 10 bucks a month it's worth it.

It looks like the unlimited nationwide might only be for the first year.

I might be dumb but I like this deal. The Freedom Mobile deal was $100 for unlimited talk and text and 50GB data but only in major centers. I assume the $100 Telus deal allows for roaming. Seems like a fair trade 50GB and the texting for the ability to roam. Where am I wrong?

If you consider it "warm" then this should not be in "hot deals". This is no match to Freedom's $89/$99 month unlimited plan. I wouldn't even recommend this for retired folks. 400 minutes is roughly equal to 33 minutes per month. At best this is a cash grab by Telus.
Telus $30/25gb x 3 lines, $10/Talk& Text line - 24 mths
300 LD Can/US minutes, 2000 LD minutes to India, Unlimited CAN-Int'l Text ($0), 0$ smartwatch plan
Rogers $44.99 /24 mths, Ignite 1.5G internet

Can you share more details on your EPP plan and phone?

Thinking of moving over to Telus internet and this $15 will knock off $10 on the total ( bundle deal) and if I get a new $300 phone in the process, I think it's a win.

Thx.

Thx for this. Guess I will get lower rebate paying with BNS VI Momentum CC then. 4%-1.5% so 2.5% CB is still a win just smaller.Face With Stuck-out Tongue And Winking Eye

Forgot to mention the 1.5% fee should also be subject to 4% CB using BNS CC. At least BC Hydro works that way...
