does it matter?
muffin4life wrote: Can you share more details on your EPP plan and phone?

Thinking of moving over to Telus internet and this $15 will knock off $10 on the total ( bundle deal) and if I get a new $300 phone in the process, I think it's a win.

Thx.
muffin4life wrote: If this was unlimited forever then yes!
so true.

Even if this plan in permanent with unlimited incoming and unlimited text the I will surely change to this. So I can receive CRA and other banking security codes anywhere. Speakout and few other prepaid are only local.

It is telus legacy plan. CIL.
once I made mistake and changed from CIL to other Telus EPP. which don't have this plan. The cheapest was $35 talk and text.
So I changed back to CIL. You will have to check if your company is listed in that EPP plan.
Check your corp web site. Rogers plans are only 30% discount so I don't use Rogers. And plan costs are high.

$300 for hardware. But phone prices are inflated. Plus if new activation they charge $50.

Did you even read the deal? It's unlimited nationwide promo not 400 minutes. And what about for people outside of freedom area?

This was my thoughts you're trading those extras for actual proper cellular coverage across canada

The question is : can you continue at 100$ / year next year when it is time to renew. If not, might not be worth it if you have a plan that you want to keep.

No problem. For certain people it is a good deal for sure for unlimited calling less than $10 a month even if it is only for one year just switch after that to the next deal. Prepaid too so not even a credit hit for BYOD month to month type plan.

I had a parent get the telus 100 plan pre promotion. She actually hit the limit surprisingly due to calls with the hospital and other specialists etc.
The annoying part is if you hit the cap, you can't just renew for another $100 for a new year based on the current date, you have to do top ups until the renewal time comes up.
I don't know if that's the norm but that's pretty shitty, and i'm considering flipping her to freedom's deal, after i do some testing/investigating with their band and coverage in my area.
If telus decides to commit and give people unlimited nationwide beyond a year, then i think their deal might be actually better if you don't care about data and need better bands/coverage, but nothing to indicate to me at least that you will get more than a year.

By next year you will have another black friday with more offers. This is prepaid so not even a credit hit. Just take advantage and switch after. for 8.33 a month you get unlimited canada wide calling anywhere in canada and still some texting availability.

Thanks OP for posting this deal.

For sure this deal is not for everyone. But it will benefit my parents. They travel back and forth every one or two years. And they like to drive to rural area and enjoy the environment.

So we cannot use Freedom $89/$99 plan as my parents need some rural coverage. We used to have Freedom $129/year plan, combining with Fido $10/4GB tablet plan.

Now the Telus $100 plan is perfect for my parents need. I wish Fido can match Telus offer.

Again thanks OP for sharing.

I think people overvalue deals with quirks over a proper deal with less/no strings.
I will say though that someone made a good point that freedom at least ensures you grandfather your deal that you were on vs we don't know how telus will handle it over time.

No problem at all glad someone else was able to take advantage! :) Freedom is great but *shocker* some of us don't live in the GTA/ other major freedom coverage areas. Plus even when i was in those areas and tried out freedom a few years ago call drops/ no rings was pretty consistent.

The promo is worded poorly. "Receive unlimited..." is leading people to think unlimited incoming calls, not outgoing.

Fair. I confirmed with a telus rep though it's unlimited incoming and outgoing.

Fair enough haha. I haven't really done phone plan shopping much so not that familiar with these seasonal deals since they're usually targetting the big budget plans that i avoid due to them being horribly overpriced.
These prepaid deals this year though are something else. I hope to see the same or more of these kinds of deals next year for sure.

I'm very happy with my 50gb for $45 and this plan for my parents. Smiling Face With Sunglasses

Thx. I did have to read the promo part a couple of times, because the top half "400 local minutes" is what stands out. A good deal for people like @snailium's parents. Better than Rogers prepaid plan that was $180 last year with restricted free calling times. DK if this still exists.

The prepaid Freedom plans have a more advanced use case for those with dual sim phones. Wifi calling outside of Freedom zones, including outside of Canada. I've had that need before, so I understand the FM attraction.

If your mom is ok with it annoying I know learning a new number but just let it drop off and get a new number/line with this promo is my suggestion.

I didn't realize there was wifi calling over freedom. That is interesting but this is still good as an on the road emergency phone etc especially at 8.33 a month that's cheaper than the next plan at 15 a month which has much less minutes
