[Telus] [YMMV] PureFibre 75/75 $35 a month + $200 gift card

Was cancelling internet and immediately offered this from TELUS. Already signed contract, so too late for it. Definitely YMMV but they offered it to me immediately without me even asking. I'm in Richmond, PureFibre enabled area.

This is a crazy price. Teksavvy is getting insanely expensive, it's hard to justify my loyalty at these rates.

How much were you paying before you switched out?

Fastest speed I can get through Telus is 25 Mbps for $85/month. I'm in the middle of a fairly large city.

Fiber distribution is expensive and time consuming to implement.

$50 a month, 2 year contract. $200 bill credit when I signed up.

So you switched to another provider and Telus reached out to you?

I mean, I (my grandparents) were using VDSL. Fibre was installed to the door but I never got it wired to my networking area, so I (my grandparents) were still on copper.

I'm assuming they wouldn't have sent out someone to switch it over, since you can easily get 75 on VDSL, at least in my area where there seems to be nodes everywhere.

Thanks, from the other internet posts I read you get a better deal by calling retentions before your contract runs out, guess not anymore....

It's true their prices have gone up. But they're at the whim of the big telcos that wholesale bandwidth, and they have lobbied hard for the CRTC to keep wholesale prices high despite TekSavvy's efforts to argue otherwise.

I do feel that TekSavvy is driven by a desire to offer good service at a reasonable price subject to the costs that they can't control, whereas the big telcos are driven by profit and the quality of service is an afterthought. I would still rather give my business to TekSavvy. Unfortunately, the big telcos get to eat a big piece of that.

No, when I called to cancel they immediately fired back with this offer.

I didn't actually switch: I should clarify, I live closeby to my grandparents, and all they do is Facebook, VoIP and watch IPTV. So I just set up a WiFi bridge from my place for $200 in equipment and now they get 25/30 for pretty much free. They previously had Telus VDSL internet, and switched. End of their last contract ($50 for VDSL 75, $200 bill credit) was late June. Was easier just to say I signed contract in main post

Whoa, good deal OP! Going to call Telus now... Thanks OP!

Edit: No dice, loyalty wants $70/mo for me (in Vancouver, BC). Oh wells... :(

OP, was this with unlimited data, or is this with a data cap? TYIA

I'm guessing it was limited but he didn't say. My (grandparents') old cap was 550GB so I'd assume it's the same.

I feel the same, but I want to do my best to support Teksavvy financially. It'll be the last bill I cut if push comes to shove. We need more competition in telecom. Now these big companies are giving out the low rates to kill off smaller players. It's ridiculous CRTC decided to eat the own words on the wholesale rate and suck big telecom's pee-pee.

My last round with loyalty (May) was more hardball than I dealt with in the past. Ended up at $70 for 75/75 fibre, tv + 2 theme packs, 2 year contract. Historically had been able to keep it at $60 without a problem.

"Old" salesrep here. That price seems to be a retention deal or a MDU (condo) offer. Those in fibre areas internet 1G is only $80 right now with credits.

Never heard of 75MBPS Fibre... 150MBPS is the lowest I've seen.

I also live in Richmond. How can I get this deal? Should I speak to sales rep or I can pop to the telus retail store on Richmond center?
