Thanks! It's probably because of how unreliable non-Tesla (CCS/ChaDeMo) L3 Chargers are, and how these aren't selling like hot cakes like they were from South Korea!

Edit: I believe they were $325+tax when it was first available officially in Canada.

You follow any tutorials to retro it yourself?
Very interested in doing this. Tired of waiting for eligibility from tesla.

How necessary is this adaptor?

It sounds like it gives more fast chargers options that are generally cheaper than Tesla super chargers.

Aren’t there a ton of Tesla super chargers available versus the CCS types?

Yes, this is mainly to open up some additional (cheaper) options for charging. In rural areas, a non-SC might be all you have available.

I've had my M3 for 8 months living in Toronto and drive alot in the GTA. I've never seen a CCS fast charger yet. Is this more common in areas outside of the GTA? I'm debating getting this just incase but I'm not sure how common these non-tesla superchargers really are in Ontario?

Can't buy one. I have a 2019 M3 and Add to cart button is greyed out.

This accessory requires a retrofit. Check back in early 2023 for availability.

Thanks OP. Ordered. I came across one of these ports on the way to the USA via Kingston at an ON Route but I have to check if they added Tesla Connectors as this was a year ago.

Tesla chargers at ON Route have giant tesla adapters (I think CHAdeMO) and provide 50Kw max. With this CCS , I believe you will be able to use other ones at ON Route which goes upto 150Kw.

Just ordered one. Thank you OP.

Good deal for alternative fast charging locations. Compared to what I paid for the Tesla CHAdeMO adapter several years ago and its current limitations. Hope they get their charging hardware upgrade process initiated soon

Thanks OP! Here in NS our Super Charger access is lacking so this will be a nice backup vs waiting for level 2 charging!

Perform this retrofit if CCS is not enabled under “additional vehicle information” on the About screen of the car.

This is what you need:
Adapter
Only necessary if your car is built before Oct 5, 2020 and is a Model 3 for North America. Model Y owners do not need this adapter.

Tesla Part
Order this part by creating a service ticket in the app and asking nicely to purchase a over the counter part.
Part Number: 1537264-00-B
Price: $180 before taxes is what I paid

Tutorial

I’m not that good with cars but still figured it out after 45 minutes. It’s not too hard to do. It’s just a little box you need to swap out.

Bought it at full price last fall when it was released, would recommend every Tesla owner have it just in case for emergencies, especially for those who do trips across cities and provinces.

Honestly, you may only end up needing to use it once a year or so, but in those circumstances, you'll be glad to have had it. As good as the Tesla network is around core city regions and major highways, it isn't the greatest once you go to rural areas, speaking from personal experience having done road trip from Toronto to northern Quebec.

With this, alongside the J1772 adapter in the trunk, you'll feel quite confident in being able to do road trips to pretty much anywhere.
