[The Bay] Global Seido 7-Piece Stainless Steel Knife & Maple Block Set $359.99

The bay flash sale today has this Global knife set for $400, get extra 10% off with code FLASH

A nice deal IMO, actually I had bought the 2 pcs set from Costco and it was already like $190, really good if you need more knives with a block

Be warned. If you buy this set, the serrated bread knife will ruin you for life for knives cutting bread and tomatoes. :)

I have the same knives, but with the older base. Lots of complaints for the older base, but it does allow knives to air dry after a wash and wipe. This seemed to be a major complaint with the set for the past couple of sales. I paid $280 taxes and shipping included in March, 2019, so with the more solid base, this is pretty similar in price 2.5 years later.

in the market for some knives, how does this compare to the Ikasu set?

https://www.ebay.ca/itm/254642754745?ep ... SwqT9hASxO

i contacted them and they ship using Australia post which will end up coming via canada post, so duty/import charges shouldn't be too bad... final price will probably be similar or slightly less than link in OP, but i think i prefer the bamboo/window block.

I’ve had the Ikasu set since last year, good knives for the price , and I like the small form factor of the stand.

I keep these knives nice and sharp using a ceramic sharpener, and they continue to impress me and my wife.

Looking for a new knife set as well but my budget was around $2-$300. Can anyone recommend another decent set from the Bay flash sale in that price range?

You might want to try one of the Zwilling Four Star sets @ $299.99 - 10% with promo code FLASH with either bonus shears or steak knives.

I have the same set of knives (with a different block) and they've been amazing. I've never had sharp knives before so here's a couple of my own experiences.

- You will want to clean them right after using them right after using them and it's not the kind of knife you should just leave lying in the sink (respect the knives!).
- They're quite sharp out of the box - amateur me accidentally skinned myself a little bit with the biggest one on day 1.
- I also picked up the minosharp sharpener with this. It costs a bit more, but I'm not confident enough in my own skills to sharpen with regular whetstones.

Global knives are polarizing. They are good but get a cwramix honing rod and hone often

And for those who haven't bought from The Bay lately, you can double-dip, since Hudson's Bay just joined Ampli.

There is a Spend $40 and earn $5 cash back deal right now (YMMV - may be targeted offer - see Post 17 below.)

I was just about the order the Ikasu set, but i ended up getting this @ 299 + 4% GCR. I really dont like the look of this block, but maybe it will look better in person or down the road will build a nice one myself out of walnut.

I only see Spend $125 & Earn $10 in my Ampli, could that offer be targeted?

I've been using the knives in a block that my mother gave me when I went to University.
It's time for an upgrade! Couldn't resist @ 299.99+tax and based on the RFD previous threads and reviews.
Thank you OP. Great find!
