I think Walmart had skillet this for $30 standard price.

Last time I checked, it was even cheaper in store (I imagine shipping or pick up is more expensive due to weight).

And the griddle goes for used-great warehouse on Amazon for like $15 a lotta times.

This not the same item.. you posted a skillet vs OPs griddle. The griddle is $41 at Walmart.

I personally find that for a "griddle" syle pan you'll want something with a smoother finish. I HIGHLY recommend a carbon steel crepe pan.

I have this one and use it almost daily. It costs more but if you wait for it to come on sale it won't be too much more. Plus these things last forever so in the long run it's not that bad.

Different tool for a different job. What do you want to cook with it? Usually, the skillet is more flexible but the griddle has a special function.

The skillet is $29.97 at Walmart presently: https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/lodge-cast ... 0189296989

Can't you use the same pan for everything?
Thanks for the Walmart deal btw

I have both the skillet and griddle. I like both. Griddle is lighter and perfect for pancakes and heating up bread. Because it doesn't have wall, can cause spill and definitely not suitable for stir frying. I got mine for about $25 one year when amazon had a sale across the range. I also leave mine permanently in the oven as a heating stone, though it is a tad small for that.

If you are only going to buy one then go with the Walmart deal, the skillet is much more versatile. I’ve had one for years and it’s perfect for making steaks and other meats, veggies, pizza etc.

Just make sure you season it and clean it properly after each use.

I have a carbon steel wok, is it similar maintenance for the carbon steel griddle?

yeah, i clean cast iron vs. carbon steel more or less the same way:
  • i avoid using soap as much as possible
  • use wood utensils to prevent scraping off too much of the seasoning coating
  • dry it off and rub oil after each use
it's worked well for me so far.

Thanks, I’ve got the same routine for my skillet and wok although I haven’t noticed much difference using steel spatulas/tongs vs wood

Did you buy the 12” griddle? I noticed that amazon has smaller sizes, I’m wondering if I should stick with the 10” if I’m primarily making pancakes instead of crepes.

I've got both the 10" griddle pan and the skillet and probably 4 times of 5 I reach for the griddle pan. The only time I reach for the skillet is if something needs to have depth (frying with lots of oil, or making deep-dish pizza as an example. The griddle is lighter, easier to use a spatula/flipper with the low sides. Love it.
