[The Bay] *OOS* CLEK Car Seats 25% Off (Brand Exclusion Coupon Error)

I know that the Bay coupons have their own thread but thought it would be worth its own thread due to the Brand being included in the coupon in error. These seats were on for 20% off during Black Friday and Boxing day, however I missed it so happy to see this 25% coupon code work at The Bay. I did notice that these often go on sale again in July at multiple retailors but I will be in need of it before then.

Note that these seats are not returnable so you may want to visit another retailer to test in your vehicle before purchasing. Clek is also very good as I reached out and asked about fitment in my specific car and they sent me photos

This is the best discount I’ve seen on Clek. But it is an error so get in on it before it gets fixed.

Do you really need a $600 car seat? Serious question. I got one as a gift but don’t really have any other seat to compare to.

Exactly what I'm thinking.
My kids are in the 100$ Canadian Tire car seats.
They are tested to the same standards.

Clek's rigid latch system makes the seat safer than most others in the market. Rigid latch system makes sure the seat moves as little as possible in case of a crash. Clek seat is also good for ~9 yrs, whereas others are only good for ~3 yrs. Which means you will be able to sell the seat when the kid outgrows it. I was able to get 50% of the cost back when I sold it with 3 yrs of life remaining. The expiry date is printed on the seat label.

These are more narrow compared to a lot of other seats out there, so if you have multiple kids, as mentioned in the OP it's easier to fit 3 seats across.

In terms of people balking at the price, in response to that I posted something similar to this in another thread:

Clek is known for making very high quality, consumer-friendly, easy to install/use car seats (and they are Canadian-made) - so that's the price you pay. Some other car seats (i.e. cheaper ones), you have no idea what chemicals, etc. go into the seat (the fabric in particular), whereas with Clek, they explain the fabric options and what are in each on their website.

Also, not that more money always gets you a higher quality/better product, but a cheaper car seat (but one that is more difficult to install, potentially resulting in an incorrect installation) may be worse.

Lastly, will add that I have had the Liing (infant seat) and contemplated getting another car seat base for the second car but the install is so dead simple with these (and so solidly constructed) that I am not going to bother spending the extra $200+ and will simply switch the base between cars as needed.

You could say "same standards", meaning minimum standards, yes, but then how each car seat fares in a crash is going to vary, right?

Same with cars - they must meet minimum federal standards, but that doesn't mean some don't do better than others.

And I know there's definitely a lot of variables (major one being which car is the kid in), but there are seats that do have better/extra safety features that can help in the event of an accident.

Not arguing that its safer.

But 95% of parents don't even put their car sets in correctly so however much you spend is pointless.
I have yet to see anyone I know even use a seat belt clip that comes with the car seat.
Its usually convenience over safety/installed correctly.

All my car seats are as ridgid as it gets when installed. They pretty much don't move when force is applied.

Its RFD, where half the deal threads are people with no intention to buy judging others for even thinking of doing the contrary

Hey guy that hasn’t had to buy a car seat in a decade and a half, maybe sit this one out!

I certainly haven't looked up all car seats, but 6 years seems to be the minimum, even for cheaper models.

This table gives an idea, even though it might not be up to date.

Didn't know The Bay was carrying this line. Way back when I had to get a replacement due to a rear end accident, I was able to get a Clek Paul Frank Julius full back and booster as a replacement. Quality car seat at the time but expensive. Luckily, the insurance covered it.

For anyone who did not know about this brand, it was originally created by a Canadian car parts manufacturer. They ended up selling the brand out. It's a niche brand compared to Graco and very good quality. The latch system is solid.

Edit: Mammoth - https://www.thebay.com/product/clek-foo ... a42b376d2a

Doesn't apply to Mammoth unfortunately.
Look for the model sold by thebay…this one’s sold by dear-born.

Thanks, OP. Grabbed one as this is an even better deal than the 20% off during Black Friday.

As per someone earlier, make sure you're adding the ones sold by The Bay for the code to work. I bought a Mammoth and got the 25%

This is just wrong. Car seats go at least from 6 years and many lasts up to 10 years.

I like Clek but at least use something valid for comparison.
