Any reason to get this over the 2nd gen for $50 @ amazon.ca?

This is the echo plus, has a built in hub and sounds better than the echo

Could be a price error for this silver one - the White one is $159. And Amazon is still $169

I'm sure it's a price error. They just dropped the 1 in the price.

This is a FIRST gen Echo plus not the second gen Echo Plus which is $169. The PLUS versions have a Zigbee hub integrated so you do not need something like SmartThings or a Wink to use your smart devices

This is the 1st gen, might be on clearance. The hub part isn’t really useful either (no zwave, no shared accounts, very limited controls in app..)

I believe the main differences between the first and second Gen versions is a speaker upgrade and fabric exterior.

Too bad, I would have bought one in a heartbeat at that price. I have one already along with a newer gen Echo and some dots. This one sounds the best by quite a big margin IMO.

This is 1st Gen. Amazon are about to launch 3rd gens. So it could be stock clearout. Also the included hub functionality is pretty much useless for anyone looking into seriously getting into home automation. The included hub supports Zigbee, but not Zwave, so you will be very limited to the the type of devices you could use.

Seems like a good deal, but with so many compatibility issues between Zigbee devices and hubs, I wonder how compatible it is with the current array of Zigbee devices. Does anyone have one who can comment?
