Currently Apple Canada Refurbs are only 8th gen and more expensive. This is the best deal today unless linked otherwise.

I disagree as it helps provides reference point for value. This is RFD and I certainly don't buy just because its the cheapest right now. I, along with many others, will wait for many things and buy when it's the all time low.

This is a good device. HOWEVER, it does seem that there has been some stagnation in the ipads. I compared it to an ipad 6th gen I had and didn't really see enough benefits to keep the current ipad 10.2.

I bought it thinking that I would use it for drawing; but the benefits are limited and the extra speed isn't used much by ipad OS. I ended up keeping the ipad 6th (got it used off kijiji for $150 - 128gb + cellular) and sold the ipad 10.2 at a slight loss.

We still have an iPad 6 in the house... And I think what you're saying says more about how good apple products maintain their life. It still works great, and I let my kid use it now... But compared to a 9 it's much slower, especially if playing games and stuff. It isn't comparable. The 10 is arguably the worst machine they've made, they raised the price significantly but didn't make the machine significantly better. They actually throttled it on purpose.
