there's no reason to buy this when the M1 Air is $1169 and comes with free airpods.

The only hot thing about this will be your lap while using it.

Skip the intel chips now that the M1 is out.

I skipped the entire Intel generation. My last Mac was a PowerPC G4.

I paid this around this price for an M1 from the apple education store around last April.

Yeah.... except it's $1169 for 256GB SSD, and $1519 for 512GB - which matches the configuration here.

I'm not saying the Intel option is great, I would prefer the M1 as well. But... Apples to Apples - pun very much intended.

Appreciate the effort OP but this is the equivalent to buying an iPhone 6s when the iPhone X came out.

Yeah it’s decent but the game has been changed with M1

The other hot thing about this deal is the hot mess and dumpster fire that is Intel MacBook Air which will forever be held back from its lack of active cooling while running very hot. If they made it thicker to accommodate better cooling, it would essentially defeat the purpose of the MacBook Air (form over function). The MacBook Air form factor was made for the M-series chips from the get-go. They just used Intel because their own chip platform isn't mature yet and the software and OS isn't there yet.

Still overpriced for an "end of life" product since Apple will never look back and go back to Intel. Backpedaling would be an admission in defeat and it was a mistake.
Why settle for full retail price when you can wait and get it at a lower price for better value (even better if there's a bundled freebies deal)? 😉

If my budget is tight, I think I'd still prefer M1 and 256GB SSD than Intel 10th gen with 512GB SSD.

These Intel Macbook Airs are utter garbage. How is this a hot deal when you can get a better laptop that's more than 3x faster and newer for the same price.

More like the iPhone 3GS when the iPhone 11 came out. That's probably closer to the difference in computing power. It's worse because in this case the iPhone 3GS is the same price.

How about Bootcamp though? I run windows frequently but like Apple for their hardware, keyboard, form factor, longevity, etc.

What's the going recommendation for someone that wants Windows?
