Could be the bandwidth, as the iPad is a lower resolution for netflix. Try going into the Apple TV netflix and see if you can reduce the bandwidth just to see if you really do have a bandwidth issue on wifi or even on your network
You can install Speed test on your apple tv and see what kind of throughput you are getting via wireless.

For folks who have bought into ecosystem chains.
As an apple user myself, well iPhone and partial macOS user, I would still take Nvidia shield over this. I try to avoid iTunes Store and prefer an open device as a media player over a locked one. You can’t even load Kodi on this without weekly hula jumping, even if it was for legitimate reasons.

I use it for IPTV and it works flawlessly, way more responsive than my Chromecast with Google TV

I much prefer the older style black remote that this has, I know that is personal preference but there you go.

Remote with this 4k TV is much more premium than newer aluminum version. $10 silicone case takes care of handling issues. Trackpad is better than joypad any day for me.
This is 2017 4k 1st Gen, it handles everything I throw at it. It has A10’X’ chip which in terms of GPU is as good as regular A12/A13 but falls short in terms of CPU power. But as it’s just a TV box, everything is fluid even on this 2017 A10X.
At this price it’s worth it, I got 4 of these when Costco cleared them out at $99.

Did a bit of research as I'm tempted by this item.Hahahapxl wrote: ↑ Remote with this 4k TV is much more premium than newer aluminum version. $10 silicone case takes care of handling issues. Trackpad is better than joypad any day for me.

What I found on a popular Mac forum...if you go for this 1st gen 4K ATV, you lose out on these features:
-Thread and Matter compatibility. Apple is migrating to Matter as the smart home standard in few years.
-eARC audio output.
-Use HomePod or HomePod mini as ARC/eARC speakers.
-60 Hz HDR 4K support, including from AirPlay.
-More responsive overall performance, and most likely longer tvOS updates.
-Wi-Fi 6.
-New remote control.
For me the dealbreaker is not being able to use it with HomePod minis and the rumoured new HomePod in 2023 which I assume would also use eARC audio.
