May be true, but I'm going to trust a Sony panel more than a Hisense panel in the longevity game (both were on S&D at one point). 4K vs 1080p is also meaningless to me, this is intended as a business presentation and conferencing panel.dirtyid wrote: ↑ According to a thread from last year, seems like Scratch and Dent include floor models with 8000+ hours (one was 14000). Someone also mention receiving like new item with no hours. I'm assuming there's some self report bias happening for folks who got screwed. Luck of the draw I guess.

Yup, just clarifying to others what scratch and dent actually entails. I don't know how long led panels last these days, never really had a TV die on me before. Floor model usage can't be that high if they actually send 2 year old model.redflagdealsguy wrote: ↑ May be true, but I'm going to trust a Sony panel more than a Hisense panel in the longevity game (both were on S&D at one point). 4K vs 1080p is also meaningless to me, this is intended as a business presentation and conferencing panel.

Fair enough, but I do have another point.
Let's say that lifespan is only 50,000 hours, it's still way more life than I'll need given my usage patterns with the set (and replacement cycle). Even a unit with 15,000 hours of prior use should last me years before I replace it... likely before it stops working.Flat-panel LCD TVs have a lifespan newly approaching 100,000 hours on average. The lifespan of an LCD TV is generally longer than that of similar-sized plasma televisions. Some manufacturers even claim that their LCDs can last upwards of 100,000 hours when used continuously under controlled conditions (e.g., in a room with "standard" lighting conditions and 77° temperatures throughout). Just how realistic such claims are is debatable. After all, whose living room has no windows and remains at a perfectly comfortable 77 degrees year-round?
