[The Source] Office 365 Personal 1 yr $49.99 or 2 yr Home $85.94 (YMMV)

update: looks like this is a sale price with the purchase of a PC, Laptop, or Tablet. However, I was able to order a Personal version online for $49.99 with free shipping (received Feb 1) on its own: YMMV.

I received a retail box with Product Key and I was able to successfully extend my subscription.

Update 2:
I ended up purchasing 2 more copies of Personal and used there $25 off $100 coupon (+ a filler item). I was then able to upgrade my Personal account for $10 on the MS website by purchasing a a 1 month recurring subscription for the Home edition (and then cancelling the auto-renew).

So if you buy two copies and can upgrade to Home it's a hot deal for
$85.94 + tax Total for 2 years of Office 365 Home edition!

-------

thesource has Office 365 on sale.

Personal edition (1 year subscription for 1 PC/Mac + tablet + phone) is $49.99 http://www.thesource.ca/en-ca/computers ... /108047996

Home edition (1 year subscription for 5 PCs/Macs...) is $79.99 http://www.thesource.ca/en-ca/computers ... /108047994

Sign up for The Source's newsletter and receive a $25 off $100 coupon and buy two 1 year subscriptions (as suggested by others in this thread).

Ah interesting, that's pretty annoying. I ordered one online without purchasing a PC, Laptop or Tablet. The order is currently "approved", but perhaps it'll get cancelled if I don't add in the purchase of the hardware?

Someone could try ordering two, with a $25 off email signup coupon. THAT would have been a deal :)

I definitely considered that... I asked a friend but he had recently renewed.

As an update, thesource has shipped my copy. So it appears I'm getting it for $49.99 unless the code will only activate along with a new computer?

I ordered it from The Source. No extra purchases required. Just the software. Free shipping. Total with GST, $56.49.

Great. Mine just arrived (according to Canada Post). When I get home tonight I'll try out the code to make sure it works fine and report back.

Ok I received my Office 365 personal subscription from The Source. I was charged $49.99+tax and I received a full retail box with the enclosed product key.

There was no need to purchase anything else.

My only complaint is the need for the retail packaging, shipping, etc. just for a product key. I'd have preferred a digital code delivered via email: too bad those were not on sale too.

Yes, I just extended my existing subscription using the Product Key I received.

You should be able to sign into your Microsoft account and choose to Renew with an Office product key.

I think you can also renew with the code here: https://setup.office.com/ and sign in with your Microsoft account.

If you're a student, you can get the Office 365 University 4- year subscription for $79.00 from the Microsoft Education Online Store. I believe you need a valid university e-mail address or other proof to qualify.

Otherwise, the deal from thesource isn't bad: you're saving ~$20 as compared to the Microsoft store or Bestbuy. For 2 PCs and a Mac you'd need the Home edition at least, I believe.

The main difference is that 365 is a subscription and cloud solution. I actually own a full version of office through the Microsoft Home Use Program (ms-office-2016-pro-13-only-mac-windows-versions-985675/): it's a great deal if your company/institution is part of the program: $13 for Office 2016 Pro (not a subscription).

But I also like to have Office 365 for use on my iPad and iPhone along with the 1TB OneDrive cloud storage.

Here are a couple of articles that explain the difference:

As far as I can tell, this is a pointless and infuriating replacement for Office 2013 that adds no useful features. Why? Things that were once easy to find and use are now hidden and, in many cases, located in intuitive places.

This is a super hot deal for me, here's why.

I ended up buying two at $37.49 each because of the email sign up $25 discount and a filler product. That is the price that i paid for 1 year back in 2015 with the Amazon deal so I am super happy.

This give me 1TB of MS Cloud Storage space and for me that makes the $37.49 worth it, getting a legal copy of ALL the office products is just a bonus truthfully.

Here is a link to a bunch of $0.96 fillers that you can add to the cart to get the $25 email sign up bonus.

Woot woot, thanks OP
