Most retailers sell this for $55 including Best Buy and the official Microsoft Store.

You can get it 10% cheaper if you use The Source PSP ($11.66).

Or you can get it even cheaper if you get Best Buy to pricematch ($8.76) and then beat it by 10% of the difference. http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/mic ... 96476.aspx

Note that there is also another adapter that looks identical but has a different part number for $19.96: https://www.thesource.ca/en-ca/computer ... /108022998

although this says it is for the Microsoft Surface, it should also work with other devices (especially if the device is Windows based)

I have it for my work Surface Pro, but it does work perfectly with other PC/laptop with USB 2 or 3 port. It's a good deal.
Thanks, OP!

Can somebody who has this please post the actual usb>ethernet chipset it uses, that is the only important part.

I'm guessing it is just another Asix based device that are a dime a dozen.

It looks like it's RTL8153 chip based dongle.

USB\VID_045E&PID_07C6&REV_3000

It come up as "Surface Ethernet Adapter" on device manager.

Thanks. I don't believe this will work with the Nintendo Switch then. The asix based ones do, however I have found that even when wired to ethernet in this fashion the switch speed tests were still terrible.

"We're sorry, this item is no longer available." Odd, not just OOS but has that message now. Anyone's orders get cancelled?

Basically if you need to PXE Boot surface devices this is probably your best bet, the UEFI firmware must have the driver built into firmware to support PXE for USB NICs.

It may be possible that another RTL8153 USB NIC may work but not guaranteed as it may only recognize the specific Microsoft PID (by design). If you don't need the ability to PXE then probably any of the 3rd party dongles should do the trick for you.
